The Union House Inn on Merchant Circle exudes the essence of a quintessential local bar, offering an authentic glimpse into the community spirit of its surroundings. However, my experience fell short of expectations, warranting a 2-star rating.

Upon entering, I was immediately met with a discordant atmosphere, tainted by the overpowering scent of cigarettes. The dim lighting further obscured the ambiance, casting shadows that seemed to obscure rather than enhance the space's appeal.

While the bartender's enthusiasm was evident, I couldn't shake the feeling of being pressured to make a decision. Despite expressing my need for a moment to decide, I felt persistently pursued, creating a sense of discomfort and unease.

Though the bartender's intentions may have been well-meaning, the inability to discern social cues detracted from the overall experience. Despite his kindness, the overwhelming pressure to purchase a drink before I had even decided to stay or go left me feeling unwelcome and uneasy.

In the end, I opted to leave without making a purchase, as the environment did not foster a sense of safety or belonging. While the bartender's demeanor was polite, the lack of attentiveness to my expressed need for space ultimately soured the experience.

Nice bar, decent bar menu. Staff really makes the place special. Paul, Tara, Tony...or who ever is bar tending that day... all great and fun people to be around. And they make you feel at home, they actually remember you so it’s not about just making a buck. They always ask how my kids are doing, about my wife, about my job. It’s nice to go somewhere and feel like you’re important.

The drinks are priced very fair. The crowd varies. Mostly very kind crowd. You’ll get an occasional loud mouth but staff prevents any issues...

Been here a couple times at night , Bartenders have been on point with their drinks , but today I decided go and celebrate a personal accomplishment by myself , & was refused to be served not because I looked young (wich I dont) but because She didn't know me ....... I've been behind a Bar myself & mostly 98% of people I served were total...
