Rocky's Millwood Deli — Restaurant in Town of New Castle

I came to visit this place because it had great reviews and I was in the area. Everything seem fine for the first 5 minutes, but as soon as an older white guy seen me with my SERVICE DOG he immediately yelled out "YOU CANT BE HERE WITH THE DOG". First of all, he could've used his inside voice as I was not even 3 ft away from him. He didn't even think to ask if he was a service dog or not. I told him that he is my service dog, he then asked for proof (I'm glad I had the I.D saved on my phone because I usually forget to carry it with me). After providing him proof that my dog is actually a service dog, he then proceeds to say "there's many people who lie about having a service dog, I would like to keep my job." I then replied "I'm obviously not one of those people" and he kept mumbling under his breath. As if he was upset that I had proof and I can legally be there with my service dog. This experience was one of the worst I've ever had, but also that is no way to treat customers. I felt so discriminated and I'm reporting this business to the ADA. I'll see if he keeps his job then...

FYI he also tried touching my phone, with his gloves on. (The gloves that he uses to prepare customer's food). I pulled my phone away for other people sake because ew. Oftentimes I have found myself craving a wedge and will happily make the 20 min commute here. I've had countless fond memories from my teens traveling here in a packed car to share a top notch meal with my best friends.

The venue's cash-only policy may be an inconvenience for some (there is an in-house ATM), but where I would normally share this sentiment. The ritual of withdrawing cash just for a trip to Rocky's brings me profound nostalgia for those late night car rides, and furthermore it brings me back to a time before the plastic age. Back when a hard-earned dollar was something you could only hold in your hands.

Alongside the stellar selection of subs comes their quietly coveted variety of drinks, snacks, and candies. Some of which I have literally never seen before, giving me something new to look forward to for every return visit.

Conclusion: If you live an hour away or less and you've never had a specialty sandwich from Rocky's, you are 100% missing out both in good food, and a family of employees who treat their loyal patrons with the utmost kindness and respect. For the undecided, my go-to is a Johnny G and any beverage of your choosing.

Wednesday morning August 3,2022 I ordered a bologna sandwich on rye with just a little mustard for a 90 year old friend in the hospital in Dobbs Ferry.Rocky’s is her favorite!! The previous week she also asked for that bologna sandwich!! “Only Rocky’s makes the best bologna sandwich” Her sandwich was so thick with bologna it was the best ever!! Went out of my way going back to Columbia County to pick up 2 Italian mix subs for my husband and I. They were loaded with fresh deli meat cheese and toppings!! They were by far the best Italian subs we had in years. Soooo we decided to make the side trip back to Rocky’s again on Wednesday August 3. This time ordered 4 Italian mix subs. .2 were for our friends who I told were Best subs!! I called the order in 4:10pm to be picked up in 45 minutes. I had to repeat my order to a woman twice and 3rd time she got it!!! The four came to $60 with a tip! We were so VERY DISAPPOINTED when opening those subs. There was one layer of thinly sliced salami and single layer of the 2 other meats. Less meat than a subway sandwich. No cheese!! The bread was great but we were still hungry afterward.
