Today I was invited again to play with my band at Sir John's, for a special private Onion Fest organized by a community of Swiss-origin people. What a delight!
The restaurant is cozy and comfortable at the same time. John, the owner and fabulous host who made his restaurant available for the occasion, made sure that every guest was happy with the food and service. As I walked in to prepare for my performance I noticed a top quality Italian espresso machine which was turned off for the day. I would have really loved to have a delicious cappuccino, but I know how much time and effort it takes to start one of these machines for the day, and technically the restaurant was closed, only available to host the private party. But then Sir John himself asked me if I wanted anything... I smiled and looked at the machine, hinting that a cappuccino would have made my day but I realized that the machine was off.
Sure enough, while I was playing he came and served me with an exquisite cappuccino, decorated with some light whipped cream and a chocolate filled cookies... What a fabulous service!
During one of the breaks I got to taste the homemade pizza. As I told John how much I appreciated it, he smiled, humbly (and rightfully) proud of his own creation. Hosts like him are gems. I highly recommend his restaurant and the rich authentic...
Read moreWe have lived in N.WP almost 20 yrs and tonight we finally tried Sir John's. We had heard and read great things but never had the chance or remembered it was just up the road. The servers wore masks and seating was definitely socially distanced. We walked in and headed to the bar where we ran in to not one but two people we knew and have not seen in quite some time...true neighborhood gem. Sunday's special is $12.95 for a side salad, choice of dressing and choice of 3 kinds of pasta and 3 sauces. We all chose the vodka sauce with penne and were not disappointed. Warm toasted Italian bread was just what we needed as we sat down. Our waitress was attentive, conversational but not suffocating. The owner popped in to say hello and check the room temp to ensure we were comfortable. Espresso and house cookies to close out the evening was just right! Looking forward to checking out what else is on the menu..see you soon...
