Maya Riviera Bar & Restaurant — Restaurant in Town of Ossining

We decided to try this place for a take out lunch. The prices seemed pretty high for this cuisine, but the 4+ star rating seemed promising. Ordering online, I specified in both sections for instructions that the fish tacos were no wheat. In other restaurants, this results in a meal served with corn tortillas. (If the restaurant only has the mixed corn/wheat type tortilla, they normally let me know, sparing me a tummy ache.) We drove to pick up our order but didn’t realize the restaurant prepared the fish tacos with wheat despite the written instructions. When we opened the tray at home, we discovered their error and called. They said to come back for a replacement. However, upon arrival at the restaurant, we were met by the hostile receptionist who informed us that wheat is not flour. So if you want food prepared according to commonly understood America terminology, I recommend you shop elsewhere. Would be a 4/10 if authentic Mexican but this is more of a Tex-Mex restaurant, so really 6/10. The combo deals are your best bang for your buck but the pricing is a bit over priced. The killer was the service. I could walk out of this place without paying with ease it would go that unnoticed. We got served by multiple servers who went missing for extended periods of time. The deserts are not worth it (we did the fried ice cream, churros, and fried banana). The waiters walking around seemed as lost constantly. We also were asked multiple times by different servers if we wanted refills for drinks or waters and they’d never come after saying yes. Had the same exact issue with to go boxes for the food. The atmosphere is the best part about the place but it doesn’t justify the price and lack of consistent service in my opinion. I went here with a friend a few days on Saturday. The service was good for a few minutes at the start but then we were left alone outside and I would have go inside to find someone. The food was decent with exception of the Guacamole which was extremely spicy (My friend is Mexican and she even it was so spicy). I asked for a pint of IPA beer and they brought me a pint filled with 12 ounces of beer. They left so fast I had to go back inside and ask the bartender why it was not filled completely. I was told they were out of draft and they gave me a bottle instead. I was told by the person I went with that this place was great and she was also disappointed this time. We had to call the restaurant from our table to get someone to come back and gives us a check. Horrible customer service. Will not be coming back there...
