The GreekVille - East Norwich — Restaurant in Town of Oyster Bay

We’ve been getting food from here for over two years, once a week as it’s quick. Greek salad and grilled chicken platter. Food has been pretty consistent and what you’d expect from a Greek food kitchen.

We will no longer give them our business. We’ll be placing our weekly order at the new place in east Norwich that opened last month instead.

Ordered food on the phone, arrived, they misplaced order, that’s fine, I really don’t care as they make the food fast. I witnessed the cook put raw burger meat on the grill and proceed with the same gloves to make my salad. I pointed it out to the front staff person —possibly the owner as I’ve seen her all the time—and she said “they wear multiple gloves”. I let her know that I saw him put the meat on and then make the salad. (My eyes didn’t leave his view as I was honestly looking out for this after I saw the raw meat being handled knowing my salad was upcoming.) There was no changing of gloves.

She argued with me and someone else came and said “they have multiple layers of gloves”. I said something like “ok but he didn’t change gloves.” They told the cook and he denied it as if caught red handed, and the front staff ppl continued to disagree.

Before I lost my mind and willpower to stay calm, I asked for my card back, let her know to cancel my order as there is absolutely no reason to argue with a customer. After I made that statement she said “no, you’re right you shouldn’t have to argue about this,” which to me tells me she didn’t mean for it to end that way and I do appreciate that

Just take ownership of the very simple resolution to this situation.

In my eyes this is unbelievable. I will be sharing this experience as well on social media because this is exactly how people get sick and is definitely not food safe. If they just had the person change the gloves, said nothing or even “he probably changed his gloves already but he’ll start over”, then this post never would have happened. I assure you, check cameras, he didn’t change gloves.

It stinks that it only takes one bad experience to lose a weekly customer but this reaction was...

I had this for the first time tonight..and though there was a hiccup with small hair in a salad, which they fixed immediately and delivered the food immediately, everything was delicious. I have not had great greek food in years. My Gyro was amazing, and had great flavor..perfectly cooked and sliced, with the right spices. I got mine buffalo style, and it brought a whole new level to the gyro. The Spinach Pie was awesome, and it has been hard to find a decent one...and this blew me away. The fries could use some salt, but they are crispy. The second came and it looked great. And my fiancée devoured it. 4 out of 5 for the hair mistake and unsalted fries....

Excellent Greek food Excellent service and Consistency excellent One one experience when I made a mistaken order over the phone,Greek Cove of East Norwich not only corrected my mistake but gave me a whole platter. The food is always hot and very good and I hope this Greek Cove stays in East Norwich for a very long time serving happy customers. Their prices match the high quality of their food products but it is more than worth it. Parking in the front of the store is busy but there are always a place somewhere either in the back of the store or other places in the front. There is seating outside and a few tables inside. I am very impressed and always look forward to...
