Below Zero Ice Cream & Grill — Restaurant in Town of Palatine

I have visited this location several times and have consistently enjoyed the ice cream and milkshakes here. However, I have repeatedly encountered an employee whose behavior has been inexplicably rude. Today, when I came in for a simple milkshake, I rang the bell at the window as I didn't see anyone around. The employee responded with immediate complaints about the bell and other customers who use it. Despite my efforts to overlook her attitude and continue with my order, she remained unprofessional. I told her that her rudeness was unnecessary and decided to leave. A polite explanation of the bell policy would have been more appropriate. If the bell is a problem, perhaps it should be removed. It is disappointing to see such a minor issue handled so poorly, and it raises concerns about how she might manage more significant customer issues. Due to this negative experience, I will no longer be visiting...

I got a late lunch here on 6/19/24 and the food was great, a bit expensive for fried food, but good. The owners were very friendly and the service was fast l. The inside of the shop has seating and is wheelchair accessible, but no bathroom. Theyre very accommodating. We ordered a burger with cheese and bacon but they were extra, with LTO but it was left off burger. Burger was delicious. Also ordered a fried chicken sandwich and 2 orders of fries. Everything was very good. We also hot a slushy, 2 canned sodas, and a dog sundae which was huuuuge at $3. Probably like a cup and a half if soft serve vanilla, peanut butter syrup and a milkbone. Plenty of parking and a pavilion to eat under, as well as lawn games like connect four and ring toss. Its right across the street from el rancho drive ins on route 5. Great location. Excellent new ice cream shop that is going to be a hit for years to come I hope. Super friendly service with top notch owners and absolutely fantastic ice cream. Love that they serve local ingredients! The place is super clean, all updated and the prices are good. Order a small. Trust me. You can not eat anything bigger unless you're sharing and even then you're likely headed straight for a food coma if you even try. Love the location. The picnic table area has lawn games and views of sunset through the trees. Perfect atmosphere with positive vibes. Bring the kids or some friends. Sit down and relax for a bit, plan to stay and hang, there's plenty of space and you won't have to worry about direct sun or any flies.
