We really wanted to love this place as it's a very convenient location and has great reviews, but we weren't very impressed with our first visit. We were also there at a not very busy time so I'm even less impressed. I'm hoping it was a fluke and we will try again at some point. The food was decent and the coffee was good. However, we used the online ordering system as there's signs on every table saying "order here" so we assumed that was preferred and clicked "dine in" with our table number. It confused the staff and led to them thinking we were a to go order (even though the paper slip said dine in?) so they never called out our coffee or food order and we waited an awkward amount of time while people who arrived after us got their food. Our food had been ready and was sitting in to go boxes so it was kind of soggy and the flat bread was like stacked so it was all stuck together by the time we got it and hard to eat compared to plates. I also force my husband to go to restaurants instead of ordering to go so we can reduce waste so I was a bit disappointed that we still ended up using to go containers even though we were dining in. They said they just implemented the online system and seem to have some kinks to work out. We will definitely try it again at some point and just order at...
Read moreI was a first-time customer at Elvio's last week and it was great! I very much liked the vibe. It's on Empire Blvd in Rochester, NY and sits right on the Irondequoit Bay. It's spacious yet has a cozy and casual feel to it. Had coffee and a snack, as I had already eaten, but I'll definitely go back with an appetite and enjoy some lunch. The food choices looked delicious. The best part of my visit was when I misplaced my brand new sunglasses (that took me a year to find) right when the place was closing, and I said to my friend "Oh I hope I didn't throw them out when I dumped our trash in the bin!" (Unfortunately, the trash had just been removed!) Not long after that while I was still looking for them, the co-owner came in the door with my sunglasses in hand! He made my day : ) You can't beat that level of customer service and kindness. So I'll be back to Elvio's and I'll be recommending it to my friends and family in the meantime! We also have a granddaughter at Elvio's Roc Academy. Brilliant resource for young artists. We went to hear her band's ("Evermind") debut yesterday at Iron Smoke Distillery. And they were great. Clearly these kids are getting some amazing coaching and support. Wishing every success with all, and...
Read moreStopped here Saturday around 11:30 am for brunch for family of 4, wife and two teens. It was pretty busy and we kicked out with getting a table for four when a party left as we arrived. You can order food via QR code at your table or at ordering bar. The menu had plenty of coffees. My wife got the "Beneath the maple latte" which she said she said tastes more like pumpkin than malple and was strong. It was ok. I got a hit chocolate which was ok. Food came out about ten min later. I got the Rosa Maria (pictures) which was very very good and filling. They used a sauce which was awesome. Wife got a smoked salmon bagel sandwich which she said was very rich in all the flavors, almost too rich. It was a lot and she had to box it for home. Teens got a build your own egg sandwich and the Avo's Portuguese Omelette sandwich which they liked. Food, 7.5/10. Now, the performer was a solo act playing some good covers, DMB, Chris Stapleton, and Morgan, and he was fairly good but the speakers were turned up so high that patrons could barely hear their table mates. If the owner turned down the speakers, it would have been a much more pleasant experience. So, atmosphere as it was, 6/10. I'd go back for a sandwich but I ky if the music was...
