My husband and I have a normal place but they were closing so we wanted to try something else since we both really wanted Chinese. I did a quick google search and went off the top choice and the fact that Spring Garden was the top rated choice we decided to give it a try.
I should have read the other reviews.
To start, my husband called in our order and once he was off the phone he said I have a bad feeling about this. But we’ll see. He normally orders won ton soup instead of a eggroll but it was not an option.
I walked in and it was not very friendly. There was one table in there with a cooler and nothing in it. There were a stack of boxes on the other side, I am assuming it was spare supplies but having that in the entrance was not very nice looking.
I wasn’t greeted, and no hello how are you. No thank you have a good night. Nothing. No hospitality at all. I took the food home and was excited to eat- until I opened the containers.
The chicken looked grey in color. I told my husband I didn’t feel comfortable eating it. I took two bites of chicken and there was just a nasty taste in my mouth. I moved to the lo mein I ordered. It was so bland and dry. The chicken, if that’s what you want to call it, tasted like it was premade and left out and then refried. The sauce was so gelatinous and everything was stuck and clumped together.
We needed up throwing out all of the chicken and I refried the rice and lo mein and added my own flare to it. We didn’t eat half of the rice or lo mein because then I looked at reviews and didn’t want to risk the fact that so many other people got sick off this food.
A waste of $30. Will not return. I do not recommend Spring Garden. We did not get sick like other reviews but I’m not sure we ate enough to be sick. Very disappointed.
I did try to call the restaurant for a refund or a fresh meal and they did not...
Read moreRecent changes to food are for the worse. Been happy coming here for years buy most recent order was terrible. 5 out of the 6 things I ordered were very different than usual. Sweet and sour chicken was like 95% dough ball and over cooked to a hard cruch with bee-bee size bits of chicken inside. The chicken on stick was small, flat, dry and salty as all get out vs the usual juicy, curvy, meaty that used to be my favorite item. Chicken and snow pea was bland. Egg rolls had a weird aftertaste not usually present, but was probably the best of the order. Veggie lo mein was missing flavor and (for better or worse) that msg flavor and oiliness it usually has. The white rice was just fine. Very disappointed in the changes. Will maybe go back for a small test order in a couple years but for now they have lost my service and I will have to resort to going out of my way to somewhere else that I used to think...
Read moreDang, I really wanted to love this place and was super hopeful based on the raving reviews, but unfortunately I found it to only be "okay". I ordered the orange chicken, sweet and sour pork, vegetable friend rice, and chicken lo mein (all of which are normal things I'd order at any other Chinese restaurant). The Lo mein was the best thing I ordered. The sweet and sour pork was the most disappointing. I found it very greasy and mostly breading to the point where I was comparing it to a donut hole with a tiny bit of meat in it. I will say that the staff was very kind and and I received my order quickly. I do wiish they had an updated menu online (I couldn't find one) since you can only call in your order at this point in...
