We were looking forward to eating here but it was just average. On the plus side- The place is cute, lots of light, airy. The tall gentleman (manager helping out?) seated us immediately, and the coffee and food came out very fast which was appreciated. However...they don't automatically bring water, and didn't come by to refill the "bottomless" ($3.75!) coffee even once. It seemed there was only one waitress flying around so I hope and assume that was a fluke. You didnt feel like you could flag her down even. Noone came over mid-meal to ask how we liked everything. If they had I would have asked for water, a coffee refill, and a salt/pepper set because our table was missing it's set (table over by crepe making wall). Once we were all finished eating then they came with the bill machine and asked if there was anything else we wanted; but at that time the crepes were all gone and we had been waiting around already so I didnt want more coffee. As for the quality of the food - the potatoes were fresh, hot and fantastic. The single side of sweet brown sugar crepe with thick homemade cream was heaven. But the breakfast egg crepes we both had were very plain, unimaginative. Seems a side of ANY type of sauce or cream could help there. The other reason for three stars - we had some sticker shock as the total for breakfast for two came in over $50, and after tax and tip over $60. Felt overpriced for what we had and especially with the lack of service and zero coffee refill. One other thing is that the place is noisy/hard to converse, but some people like that type of fun boisterous and "hopping" atmosphere, its just our personal preference to have it quieter. Note that there is another side more cozily designed with upholstered furniture, maybe is a little quieter? Also even though there was snow it looked like they had some cute front gardens...
Read moreYesterday was my first time at the Webster location. I have previously (before 2020) visited the Pittsford and Canandaigua locations without issue.
So yesterday my girlfriend and I decided to stop in for a warm beverage. I ordered a Chai Latte. The menu says "Chai Latte...Vanilla or Spiced...Hot or Frozen $6.50". So I ordered a Hot Vanilla Chair Latte with Oat Milk which the menu says it will be a $1 charge so that is fine, I am used to it when ordering oak milk. The menu also says at the top there is a charge to add flavor but as the menu states for the $6.50 charge I can choose a Vanilla OR Spiced Chai for that price. My friend gets water as she thinks even the $6.50 is too much for a beverage.
So I drink my 10oz beverage and get my check. I was charged $6.50 for my drink, $1 for oak milk and $1 for vanilla making this an $8.50 latte. I go up and tell the server that I should not have been charged the extra $1 for Vanilla as it was stated as an option in the menu for the $6.50. To which she replied "Oh yeah, well I just work here" and I was like "well I think it should be taken off my bill as it was an included option in the menu" to which another employee behind the counter replied "we just press the buttons". I worked in the service industry for over a decade. These replies are NOT how you speak to a customer. I paid for my drink which with the drink, upcharges, tax and tip (yes I still tipped) my 10oz latte was $11.50.
So that was my first and LAST time at this location. I paid over twice as much as I would have at Starbucks which is already overpriced then I get overcharged and talked down to when I mention what the menu says. With prices being what they are today, customer service is more important than ever. Some training on how to talk to customers...
