Do you like excellent Thai food? Sadly after an over hour long wait I cannot tell you if Saks Thai has good food. Because it took more than an hour from time of ordering for them to bring the food to our table.
Where do we start? First - and to be fair - it was fairly busy when we got there. That did NOT stop the four tables that came in after us from ordering, getting their food, eating it AND checking out of the restaurant.
BEFORE we got our food.
How are their prices you ask? Well - even after cancelling my order (because they had me sit in their restaurant for an hour waiting for my lunch) they charged us for my Coke! So - I think their pricing model (and obviously "customer service") is REALLY bad.
Everyone makes mistakes right? We all do. It's human.
But when you are in the service industry the way you respond to a mistake is what makes the difference.
How DID they respond? They did not check on our table. They did not update us at any time. They sat a table of 7 in a corner and ignored us as often and as much as they could.
They didn't even apologize.
When they finally started to serve us - they got HALF the table their food. The entire restaurant emptied and still - somehow - Saks Thai managed to ignore and neglect our table so half of us had not even received their food until another 10 minutes went by.
Our server? Listen - everyone has a bad day. I don't usually blame a server.
This server? To call her dismissive would do a disservice to the word dismissive. She absolutely did NOT care that she provided us the worse service I have ever received at a restaurant.
Then - as we left - the staff STILL did not offer an apology. How do you run a restaurant where guests get fed up waiting and leave before their food arrives and not offer even a HINT of an apology?
Be Saks Thai. That's how.
I will NEVER eat at Saks Thai. I will NEVER recommend their restaurant and will actively advise people to avoid it at all costs.
If you are looking for Thai food remember - ANY place is better than SAKS Thai.
I mean - how good can food be that...
Read moreFirst, let me say that if you're looking for fresh, great-tasting food, Saks is an excellent choice. We've eaten here for the last 5+ years and every meal has tasted fantastic.
However, yesterday's takeout experience is likely "the straw that broke the camel's back" and why we'll skip Saks going forward.
We knew that ordering for 6 people for a peak dinnertime pickup would likely require some advance notice, so we made sure to have our order in roughly 2 hours early. When my wife called in the order and requested a 6:30 PM pickup, everything sounded fine. However, it took until roughly 7:15 PM for our food to be ready, and while we waited there was absolutely zero communication about our food being late. The only indication of a delay was the line of hangry people standing around the entry who were having a similar lackluster experience.
We and our friends have had similar experiences on numerous occasions over the years, and I can't ever recall any communication by the staff/owners as to delays. Expectation management is absolutely critical in the service industry, and every time we've been left with none. We've also never had anything more than a "sorry and thank you for waiting" after these experiences, which is also a lost opportunity to make good with customers by offering a discount or free food item. I know margins are tight for restaurants, but in the rare case of similar experiences with other local businesses we've been (without asking) offered complimentary food items.
In sum, if your timing is flexible, Saks is an excellent choice. But if you're on any sort of schedule, I'd strongly suggest you go elsewhere unless management actually addresses this longstanding problem. I truly hope they actually address this, as it's one of my favorite places...
Read moreWe're never disappointed. The food is delicious and the staff is friendly. It's difficult to get through on the phone sometimes, but that's because their food is wonderful! It's made to order, ( AWESOME), and it's a popular restaurant. Order ahead and pick up later. Call or go in and place your order. Know what you want before you call/ go. This process works well for us. The wait is worth it, no question, it's not fast food after all. We go weekly for take out. We went before the pandemic and will continue to support them. Another reason the wait can be longer than some people feel is acceptable, they're more short staffed than usual, it's pandemic staffing. We're glad they're still able to stay open. Be patient with them. As for spice levels, Thai food is generally spicy. So, if you like less spicy ask for 1 star, ( it gradually gets hotter up to 5 stars), or, look for dishes without the pepper next to it if you don't want spice. Our neighbor loves the gang dang shrimp. I get Pad Puk with Tofu, no celery, no spice to this dish, which is what I want. My husband gets Prin King chicken, 3 stars, no zucchini, his has a bit of a kick. They're very accommodating about leaving out ingredients we don't want. My son generally gets 4 stars for his orders, and it it even SMELLS spicy. Just like he likes it! Their fresh spring rolls,(we get veggie), are the best I've had. My husband LOVES the curry puffs, as did everyone we've introduced them to. We highly recommend Saks and HAVE recommended it to plenty of people. Everyone we have recommended it to...
