Salt. Fairport — Restaurant in Town of Perinton

I don't know why this place is drawing a crowd. The food is okay but it's nothing special. The first time we came here, we ordered the poutine. Over $13 for a small handful of fries. The portion was tiny, no meat, just gravy covered fries with a couple crumbs of cheese, so we went somewhere else for dinner. Months later we thought we should give it a 2nd try. I ordered the salad with a protein and chose shrimp. The server says, sorry, we don't have shrimp, we can do chicken. Well, it's lent so no thanks, I skipped the protein. Mind you, the special was " SHRIMP and Grits"! The table next to us ordered it, funny they had shrimp for their overpriced special but not my salad. House wine was $10/glass! Then my husband asks the waitress if the chicken tenders are hand breaded inhouse, she says yes, so hubbie presses on with the questions, they bread them here? Answer: Yes, well yea, I mean they're breaded elsewhere but we cook them here. Huh? So it's really overpriced frozen chicken tenders. Lastly hubbie asked about a high ABV beer, and if it came in a smaller glass. Waitress says no, it's 16oz and then returns with a 10oz glass! That was the 3rd strike! We don't need to be lied to. Ridiculous. We don't mind paying for high quality and great service but this was just all around...

This place is trying. The atmosphere is aiming for a casual modern vibe, which it hits on the major notes. The overall decor is modern, but the details are dilapidated.

Service was casual, friendly, and accommodating.

The food however was striving to be above its station. The menu and descriptions sound phenomenal, but the execution was abysmal. The French Onion soup tasted like crunchy onions lightly stewed in beef stock with herbs and Worcestershire sauce and white toast on top - instead of caramelized onions in an herb broth with crustinis and gruyere cheese. It was also lukewarm.

The burger bun was great, but the patty was under seasoned, as were the onion rings - which gave off a frozen mass produced taste. The Peruvian chicken was dry, flavorless, and rubbery. The mixed greens was only seasoned lettuce.

They do however have a decent craft beer selection.

Not gonna lie this was very very disappointing. Everything was great until our food got there, each meal came out at different times with 3 mistakes on 6 different dishes. Some of our food was ice cold and other dishes were steaming hot. After we said something about this, we got the cold shoulder. Our waitress ignored us, gave us dirty looks and essentially took our plates before we were finished eating. It felt as they as were actively kicking us out in such a passive aggressive manner, very very unprofessional. Again I was very disappointed with this outing and so was my family, the price they charge their food is outrageous for the quality. NEVER AGAIN!!! This place will go out of business...
