A gem of a wine bar in a beautifully restored historic building! The versatile and thoughtful wine selection was what drew me to Ration and it does not disappoint. I keep coming back, though, because of the service, the ambiance and the delicious menu of light food. You could build a whole meal out of the selections of meats, cheeses, spreads and plates--including vegan options like the dreamy homemade hummus and the hearty grain bowl. I also love that I can still enjoy a night out at Ration when I'm not drinking or if I have friends who don't drink alcohol. Wine and cocktails were wonderful, but for our foursome, that included two professional chefs (CIA alumni) we couldn't get enough of the plates. Charcuterie with house-made kielbasa, local summer sausage, smoked blue cheese, pimento cheese, and pickled mustard seeds, omg the mushroom toast (we ordered a second), hummus with pistachios, the best bruschetta I may have ever had, and deviled eggs with pickled beets that we're going to be talking about the whole drive back to New England. We had an elaborate, tasty charcuterie board featuring local meats, a delicious vegetarian toast, fresh mussels in a savory broth, and a dessert platter that offered something for everyone. Such a welcome change of pace from take-out and meals at home, and one that felt safe and COVID-appropriate. Stylish, too. Can't wait to book another igloo and come back for more delicious...
