Mel's Diner is absolutely not handicap accessible. We took a family member here, and we needed use of the handicap ramp to access the establishment. The single ramp was blocked with someone pulled all the way up on the ramp so my family member had a great deal of trouble getting past the obstruction. There are no clear ground markings asking cars to keep clear, or keep a distance so those who need the ramp can use it as intended. Its great the restaurant is busy and booming. But, when the majority of your customers seem to be 50+, you would think a little more care would have been put into accessibility. During just my 45 minutes eating brunch there, we witnessed 3 families come in with someone using a walker. All 3 could not get up the ramp because the ramp was blocked. We did bring this up to the restaurant, and we got told she needs to buy markers to block the area so those people can use the ramp.. Whats it going to take for that to happen? They sell that stuff at Walmart, Lowes, any big store really.. I hope someone doesnt have to get hurt before something is done about the accessibility problems at Mel's.

Read moreSo, imagine this: You stroll into what used to be Dukes Diner, expecting a throwback to the good ol' days. Lo and behold, it's still rocking that retro vibe. The owner greets you with a smile that could power a small town.
Now, let's talk food. You sit down, hungry as a bear in hibernation, and order up a storm. The burger arrives, and it's not bad at all. Not Michelin-star quality, but hey, it's a diner, not a gourmet palace. Then comes the homemade fries. You take a bite, and... well, let's just say they're more homemade than gourmet. And don't even get me started on the raspberry tea—it's just "okay," like the B-list actor of beverages.
But fear not! Your friend saves the day with a glowing review of their grilled cheese. It's like a warm hug between two slices of bread—simple, comforting, and downright delicious.
So, despite the hit-and-miss food, you leave with a promise to return. Maybe for breakfast next time. After all, every diner deserves a second chance, right? Who knows, maybe the eggs benedict will be the stuff of legends. Until then, keep the retro vibes alive, and keep those taste...
Read moreThe waitress greeted us quickly and brought us coffee, but then disappeared and had to be called back to the table. No big deal.
I pointedly and specifically asked the waitress if they had gluten-free bread products. She said yes, they have gluten-free toast. So I ordered the Philly cheese breakfast sandwich. Someone else brought it to the table on what was clearly NOT gluten-free bread (if you're gluten-free, you can recognize gluten-free bread when you see it), so I asked if this was gluten-free bread, and the person said, "No, she didn't say it had to be." So it got sent back and when it came back 15 minutes later, there was no egg on it. So then I had to wait for them to fry two eggs to go with it. That took another 10 minutes. Of course my friend was done eating by the time I got this sandwich, which was nothing to write home about whatsoever. And not because of the bread. It...
