Great place to look at. Had the cider and it was not good. Came with ten people, a majority 7/10 felt their beers were disappointing.
Food took a long time. All the seats were taken so it was understandable but an hour for food is pushing it. We all got our food sporadically since we were a large group.
Of the food the group ordered here are the reviews: Tacos: 👍 Venison burger: 👍 Philly cheese steak: OK Wings: OK Fries: OK Cod: 👎
Overall the atmosphere and decor is great, but that's about it. Food is hit or miss and most of the beers are not good.
Edit to Business owner:
People leave unfair reviews of places all the time. I think I provided plenty of context for my review and I can't imagine what it's like to receive an unfair review with no context. I think what I wrote above was fair, not insulting to you or to your staff or to anyone's intelligence. I can't say the same for your response though. It seems like you just want to be right and ignore all fair criticism. This is my honest thought.
If it's the busiest day of the year maybe you should have prepared more? How is my fault that it's a busy day for you? Is it no your job as the owner to foresee these things and adjust accordingly so that customers have a good experience? I understand that for a group of 10 things take time.
However, I don't think you're making incredibly difficult food.
We were a group of 10 people. We are all avid beer drinkers as well as brewery goers. This review is a review of not just my consideration, but nine other people. Most of, if not all, were disappointed with the beer. Congratulations on your awards but I did not not have award-winning beer.
If you disagree that strongly my review which Is my opinion of the experience that I had that maybe you should leave your own review for your own places.
I don't feel anything I said was "such drama" as you put it. In fact, I would argue that a lot of your responses to one to three star reviews are very dramatic. It seems like you can't handle criticism. You have a 4.7 rating on Google reviews. That's great, and you should be proud of that. No one is perfect and I felt that my experience was subpar. That happens in any business and I know that from experience. Regardless of what kind of business it is, things like this happen.
It seems you have a very popular business again with your reviews and the place was full. I'm sure a lot of people liked it and I didn't. And that's okay. However, you've completely turned me off to your brewery. Rather than acknowledging or addressing my issues again, you ignored them and just wanted to be right in the situation.
Edit again: You are correct. I don't know what I was doing with the math. It's a 9. By the three ratings it is a 3. So yes I've been stupid with the math. Apologies. However I reserve the right to give my rating. It's my review. Beer was bad. It's a brewery. The main reason.
If you don't want your place to be publicly reviewed don't put in a public space like Google? I don't think you understand what a review is or the concept of reviews.
I went to your place and I tried it. I get to review it. You can't come to me because I don't own a brewery. What part don't you get? I'm not the one charging or selling a service. You are. This is normal business.
When you sell something people might not like it. That's the risk of business. I genuinely think you don't understand what a review is or the concept of it.
Though you have not been to my business, just think about it if that was a rule. In order for anyone to review anything, we would have to review each other's businesses. That is ridiculous logic. I have sold and done things that people do not like and when they tell me about it instead of getting mad at them I reflect and try to improve. If it needs improvement I change if not I dont. Normal business behaviour Again, you can have all the excuses in the world but that is what happened. I think your response says more about you. I tried to be fair and never want to make it personal. This is what happened....
Read moreAfter seeing the near 5 star reviews and the beautiful pictures of the outdoor dining arrangements, I decided to take my family to the Upward Brewing Company for lunch. As soon as we entered the building, there was an uneasy feeling. It was the same feeling when walking down sections of SOHO, NYC and getting dirty looks because you don't look or dress the part. I realized that the Upward Brewing Company attracts out of town city folk with deep pockets, and if you have ever worked in NYC, you know that with greater wealth, comes questionable attitudes.
Positives: For one, the staff were incredibly accommodating and friendly. The beer is excellent, I had the Belgian wheat beer which was very refreshing. The grounds are incredibly beautiful with plenty of space for children and pets to run around. I can only imagine that sunsets must be amazing at the Upward Brewing Company.
Negatives: The $15 cheese burger (without tax & tip) is overly priced and mediocre in taste. I have a hard time seeing how this is a restaurant that caters to locals. In addition, the dining is self service, but when it was time to pay, the option to leave a tip from 15% - 25% when using a credit card is placed directly in front of you. Shake Shack is ironically cheaper and does not ask for a tip with it's self service model. When I travel out of the city, I hope to find people who are open and friendly, and I have met plenty in the Catskills. Unfortunately the patrons I came across at the Upward Brewing Company did not share the same open and friendliness.
Conclusion: If you have a family to feed, I would seriously consider looking somewhere else to dine. There isn't even a children's menu. If you are out with a bunch of friends and are willing to spend more for good beer, and great ambiance, then the Upward Brewing Company is worth...
Read moreWe were here on July 14, 2024. We ordered one beer and two burgers with French fries. The first thing that immediately alerted me was that the bartender took out a used glass from somewhere below, lightly rinsed it with a thin stream of water in a split second and poured me beer! In fact, into a glass that no one knows how many people have already licked. What do you want?! Herpes or hepatitis - your choice! I'm not used to this kind of "service" and was confused. I didn’t want to make a scene, so I simply wiped the edge of the glass with a napkin. The burghers began to wait... We waited for a long time, about 25-30 minutes. It seemed as if someone had gone looking for the cow from which our burghers were to be made. And we're talking about Sunday around 6 pm. There were almost no visitors. It was about 86-90°F. There was a small floor fan running inside. It was noticeably stuffy. On the street, tables and umbrellas are placed so that it is impossible to find shade. It was hot and stuffy. We wanted to go into the car and eat under the air conditioning, but we still quickly ate what we could and left with pleasure. Attached is a photo of the French fries we were served. The feeling is that this was waste from food production for those cows that are caught in order to make those same burghers out of them. When placing an order, they will not forget to show you the desired tips in capital letters. Tips I paid and was left with the feeling that I had been robbed. We bought property in Sullivan County, but I will always avoid Upward...
