This place is great. We stayed in town for 4 days and came here 4 times if that says anything. It was a delightful breakfast each time. The food was great and you couldn’t beat the price. They sell a lot of produce and other food items as well, which some can be quite pricey, but they are high quality. We bought some cheese and it was absolutely amazing. There is a really cute thrift store in the back. Just a few clothing items but fun to look at while you’re waiting on your food. Very dog friendly. They let us bring them inside and we loved that. I get it’s not some peoples vibe but eh, you’ll get over it. It’s great - keep loving dogs. Highly recommend and don’t neglect all of their cheeses!!

Quaint place. Food was good but took a half hour for an egg sandwich. Cook was new and not good. Bad food safety habits. She was eating while cooking our food. Witnessed her drop food on the floor and use. Grabbed salad with bare hands that she was eating with. Woman taking our orders with pony tail was very friendly and if it wasn't for her we would have left. She was pleasant and accommodating. The other woman kept arguing with her in front of customers. Very rude. Shop had produce, processed foods, coffee, cheeses. Also sold clothes in the back. Very disorganized place. No focus. It has tables inside and outside. They allowed pets inside, again unsanitary for food establishment.

Had a large selection of groceries that can be purchased, the thrift section at the back of the store was cute. The food tastes good but the portion of turkey on my sandwich was sad. The “big cheese” panini hardly had any cheese on it, the turkey sandwich had two or three thin slices of turkey. The bean salad was very good. I requested bok choy on my sandwich and I did overhear the chef say to the other girl that this choice will be gross. This is a totally fine comment to make, only the open kitchen design makes it very easy to hear what they are saying.

I don't know if this place has recently changed ownership, or just overhauled their business model. But my recent visit left me shocked.

Until recently, the big cheese has been a go-to for previously owned and vintage clothing, as well as a well curated selection of cheese and other Delectables.

Imagine my surprise, when visiting recently and discovering that the familiar clutter of clothing was gone, and that the business was now offering a selection of hot dishes and sandwiches.

To be fair, The baklava looked delicious. The staff was friendly and courteous. I did not simple any of their dishes while I was there, because I had it only stopped in to browse their vintage clothes.

Clearly that didn't work out.

I checked their website, and it states that they were closed for renovations. I can only assume they were we're referring to the transition in business models.

I'm hopeful that in coming days their website will be updated to reflect their new offerings, and maybe a brief explanation of the recent changes.

Overall, it looks like the new business it's going to be an asset to the rosendale community, but I think they need to work on their communication and marketing a bit to re-establish themselves with the...

While I can't exactly speak honestly about the food at The Big Cheese (we bought a bag of Tate's chocolate chip cookies which are always excellent), the "cappuccino" was not drinkable. When we ordered she made a weird face. When I asked if they could make it (it's on the menu) she said they didn't have the right pods, but she had used cold brew and others seemed to like it. We said "okay." Then she asked if we wanted regular milk. We said "sure." The machine fired up and sounded like it would be great. She handed us the cups and said "we're having a problem with the frother." $17 later, we left with our hot coffee and bag of Tate's. Bottom line: Do not get your coffee here! Not sure what kind of milk that was, but cappuccino was the color of dark mud. If we hadn't already been in our car we would have given it back. The place was chaotic with some standing in line to pay for clothing while others were waiting on food. ??? On another note, The Burger Bar down the road was...

Cute place in a great town. We walked in, ordered food and paid $40 for it. 15 other people ordered after us. We waited 50 minutes for the food to arrive. The person at the front desk forgot about our order and others before us. Food was being served out of order it seems. Orders were disorganized and not first come first served. Instead of helping the kitchen the front desk kept taking orders. BIG NONO!

At the 50 minutes mark the front desk person started helping prepping the food without gloves. We could see it clearly. At that point we left. Bad service waiting 50 minutes and bad hygiene. Wouldn't recommend. I feel sorry for the food prepping staff. Front desk should have done better...
