This afternoon, I decided to surprise my daughter with an ice cream after I picked her up from camp. Earlier this morning, while we waited outside the elementary school, she walked around picking up litter—completely unprompted. I was so proud of her and told her the ice cream was a reward for her thoughtfulness. We went to the Castleton-On-Hudson Stewarts sometime between 2:15 pm and 2:30 pm. We were helped at the ice cream counter by a very kind young man. Unfortunately, I did not get his name, but he overheard me tell my daughter that the ice cream was to reward her for picking up the garbage. He mentioned that he was a former Boy Scout and that picking up litter and keeping places clean was very important to him. In an incredibly generous and unexpected gesture, he paid for my daughter's ice cream cone! My daughter happens to be a Girl Scout and I am actually a Girl Scout Troop Leader. I am always trying to teach the scouts the importance of giving back to the community - sometimes in small and meaningful ways, like picking up litter. "Leave a place better than you found it" is a value all scouts live by. This employee embodied this value by showing my daughter such kindness and generosity. Thank you so much for reinforcing good values and being a wonderful role model! I hope this message gets back to this employee. I'm so sorry I didn't get his name. Some friends happened to stop in while we were there, and we got to chatting, but I wanted him to know that his kind gesture left a lasting impression on us. They special order me my favorite GREEK yogurt by Stewart's, cases for me on every truck load because they care about their customers. This Stewart's should get an award for outstanding service. Can be 3 people working ,and nobody will jump on the 2nd register . There sandwiches are just fowl . You have no idea how long they been sitting in the hot box for. And the cold sandwiches are worse . The cheese looks like ceviche after 3 days of sitting. Oh yeah and $2 for a cup of coffee .
