Forget my review of 2 years ago. This is the second new owner since then. I'm a local and have pleasantly noticed the incresed traffic since it's reopening a few months ago. I came for breakfast early Saturday morning. The hours are greatly improved from the past opening every day, except Monday, at 6am. It was only about a quarter full and service, while attentive and very friendly, was on the slow side. The previous rendition of this establishment featured very good and unusually creative Mexican fare. So it was disappointing to see that the current menu, likely due to practical realities, is mostly American. There are only sparse "Mexican" offerings. (Not sure how the one reviewer got a burrito here.) I had the chorizo skillet special which was very good. Given its very reasonable price this is one of the best values in Sheboygan county given post Covid restaurant inflation. The current (apparently Hispanic) owners have kept the very smart and updated Mexican decor from the previous owner. But don't look for Mexican food here unfortunately. There are a few Chinese and Italian American offerings for dinner. Lunch is classic and traditional American sandwiches. Parking is easy...
Read moreFriday night dinner with my sister and mom, no reservation, around 5pm. 2 for 1 Mango Mojitos were a happy surprise and delicious! Chips n salsa for the table were fresh n crispy. Mom n sis had shrimp enchiladas and both cleaned their plates and i had the baja California burrito, it was fantastic! I live in nearby Fredonia, but honestly can't remember ever being in that diner before it's newest mexican version. There is a small bar on one wall, 3 booths, and 3 or 4 dining tables. Decor is nice and colorful and pretty festive and bright. It was 10° outside, but warm n cozy inside. 2 for 1 mojitos didn't hurt either! 60 bucks for the three of us, including drinks. Oh, service was great, our waitress was attentive and checked on us several times. By the time we were done with the chips our food was brought out. We'll definitely go back as they had what looked like a decent menu of more great food to try. Highly...
Read moreWhile on a road trip to Wisconsin we came across this place. It reminded me of places we all knew as kids from trips with our parents. The kind of places that were everywhere before everything became so homogenized and corporate. We stopped for breakfast. I can honestly say that it was one of the best breakfasts I've ever had. The poached eggs were perfect. The corned beef hash was homemade, including the corned beef.It was perfection and almost a religious experience when I tried it. Even the bread is baked on the premises. It was amazing. The owner and his wife run the place and are very nice. They actually took the time to come and say hello. I would highly recommend a stop here. I will return if I ever make it to Wisconsin again. So next time you find yourself in America's dairy land stop in and tell them that...
