Il Trio — Restaurant in Town of Smithtown

I never normally leave reviews but I must shed light on this incredible Italian restaurant! Il trio is Suffolk county NY’s hidden gem for Italian food! Not only do the staff and owners treat you like family but they feed you! The portion sizes are huge and in all these years I’ve never had a meal that disappoints. The rice balls are to die for! The chicken monachina is something dreams are made of! The Eggplant parm, almost seedless and perfectly cooked. The Caesar salad dressing is made from scratch and is one of the best I’ve ever tasted. The cappuccinos are heaven! I know the owners from back in the day when they worked and cooked for la Capannina in holtsville and they have taken il trio to a whole new level of awesomeness. If you are looking for an amazing home cooked, fresh Italian dinner stop what you are doing and go here right now! I promise you will not be disappointed! Not to mention, the price is right !!

This past weekend we had a wonderful private party in their dining room. They set up our tables for 30 people sat comfortably and the food just kept coming out. Portions were enormous and thank God because everyone got plenty. We were never rushed and the service was fantastic. We can’t stop talking about the red sauce. Man I wish my refrigerator was hooked up to a pot of their red sauce instead of water. If I had one wish that’s what I would spend it on without question. Thank you Jesus and Fernando. My god daughter Isabella got the baptism feast of a queen. Well her guests did bc she still can’t eat big people food. We also were celebrating my kid sister getting engaged. All good things in 2024 and I can’t express how grateful we are to this establishment for helping us celebrate these precious milestones. Affordable. Family centered. Friendly place where staff members make you feel special. Over the moon service. Job well done....

Had dirt in our pasta- literally chewing on gravel. Don’t eat here

Went in on a Saturday night, seated pretty quickly. Waitress was nice at first. Got our food, noticed that in some bites it was grainy like chewing on fine sand, thought it might just be rock salt that hadn’t dissolved or something but then it kept happening. Suspect they don’t wash their mushrooms or produce properly. We let our waitress know, was given a flippant apology and told that since we had eaten some of the dish she couldn’t do anything about it. She went to the kitchen to speak to someone, came back out and told us again there was nothing she could do. She then told us to speak up earlier the next time we notice something wrong with the food. Felt talked down to and disrespected, it’s clear this restaurant has no integrity.
