The restaurant, which opened in 2011, blends traditional steakhouse offerings with high-quality sushi, catering to a broad clientele that enjoys both classic American steakhouse dishes and fine Japanese cuisine.
The concept of combining a steakhouse with a sushi bar is relatively modern, reflecting contemporary dining trends that embrace fusion cuisine. The restaurant's elegant atmosphere, marked by its sophisticated interior design, spacious dining areas, and luxurious ambiance, quickly made it a popular destination for special occasions, business dinners, and upscale social gatherings. Over the years, Insignia has maintained a strong reputation for its high-quality food, exceptional service, and the unique dining experience it offers, blending the best of both steakhouse and sushi traditions.
At Insignia Prime Steak and Sushi, my evening began with a vibrant Insignia Lemonade, a cocktail composed of LIV Vodka, natural strawberry lemonade, and a Chambord liqueur floater—a refreshing prelude to what was to come.
A promising start arrived in the form of sliced bread, accompanied by room-temperature butter and a side of marinara sauce. The quality of the bread often sets the tone for the rest of the meal, and this was no exception.
The roasted corn and crab bisque followed, a luxurious concoction that was rich and creamy, delivering on its promise of indulgence.
One of the evening’s highlights was the Wagyu beef, seared tableside on a hot lava stone, and paired with a sweet soy dipping sauce. The presentation was as engaging as the flavors, offering a memorable sensory experience.
For the main course, I opted for the large assorted sushi platter. A true feast for the senses, the platter featured seven pieces each of sushi and sashimi, along with an Alaskan Roll and Rainbow Roll. The selection was a delightful array of shrimp, salmon, tuna, toro, hamachi, red snapper, and eel, all impeccably fresh. The rolls, with cucumber and avocado tucked inside and rice on top, were executed with precision.
Although dessert wasn't initially in my plans, Amir, the managing partner, graciously presented a delectable blueberry cheesecake. Paired with my signature cappuccino, it was the perfect ending to an exquisite meal.
The service throughout the evening was impeccable, with Steve, my server, and Megan, one of the hostesses, ensuring that every detail was attended to. As I continue to explore the Scotto family of restaurants, it's clear that they have a deep passion for their craft. With four of their establishments already visited, I eagerly anticipate my next culinary journey. Insignia Prime Steak and Sushi comes highly...
Read moreDONT ORDER FILET MIGNON We have gone there a lot and have had a great experience most of the time. Some food items are definitely better than others. Why the 2 stars? Well my last experience deserves 0 stars but because of other experiences I decided to give 2 stars. So what happened? My wife, my daughter and I ordered appetizers, bottle of wine and steaks. I ordered my favorite steak, the Australian Wagyu Ribeye, yum! My wife and daughter ordered Filet Mignon, medium rare. When we got the steaks the filets were medium well in the very center with a large brown border. Normally that is not a big deal but it was strange because the cook was not consistent as shown by the large brown border. I have attached a google images photo of a filet that was cooked properly, as you can see the color is fairly consistent throughout, very different than what we got. Now, we don't normally send back food, we usually just deal with it and figure it was an off night. However my daughter (22) decided to send hers back and Jordan the manager on the floor agreed it wasn't cooked correctly. When Jordan came back with the new steak, Jordan proceeded to show my daughter a picture of her original steak and commented that the steak was actually cooked correctly but it was the dark lighting that made it look otherwise. This was insulting and inaccurate. We were seated outside and the lighting was fine and the steak was obviously not cooked correctly. This was also embarrassing to my daughter that he was calling her out like this. I have read other reviews similar to this so I guess it is what they do when someone sends back a steak. I think it is a bad practice. If you are going to accommodate the customer you don't need to belittle them with a photo of your steak that they already took back, smh. Anyway, she cuts into the steak and it had a smaller brown border followed by dark red throughout the inside. Keep in mind it is a very very thick steak. Jordan immediately realized it was not ok and took it back. After he leaves the table my daughter starts crying because she is not only embarrassed but now the steak is not right for the 2nd time. In the meantime my wife and I are staring at our steaks getting colder. Our waiter Carlos sees this and tries to comfort my daughter but we tell him its fine. Jordan does the same thing and again we too say its fine. Now the steak comes out for a third time and now the brown border is much larger and the dark red center is smaller and less dark red. The chef obviously doesn't realize that when a steak is that thick you have to sear the outside and finish it in the oven so there is a consistent cook like the photo I posted. At this point our night was a disaster. Carlos our waiter & Jordan were nice and offered us free deserts and even took $100 off of our $553 bill. We left a $100 tip because of their efforts. We probably will not go back...at least not for a while. If you do go I would...
Read moreLet me start off by saying I’m a big Scotto brothers fan. I go to their restaurants and others like it and look forward to an elevated dining experience in these types of eateries. Insignia was an underwhelming experience from start (hostess smacking her gum at the host stand) to finish (next day realizing they didn’t pack the sides that were piled on my plate, only the steak) for all the hype and the price. Julian, our server was the best part of the experience. We went for a birthday on a Tuesday night, the restaurant wasn’t busy. Hostesses are aware it’s a birthday and we are seated off to the side in a drafty corner where the main building room connects to a tent. There were many other tables in the main dining room to the left when you walk in but also in the center of the tented area that would have been better. In retrospect we should have asked for a different table but we didn’t want to be those people, though if the hostesses knew it was a birthday they should consider these things. The cocktail menu was very disappointing. I understand people don’t come for the cocktails but I expected more creative mixes, flavors, and ingredients. The strawberry roll was interesting and worth getting because I’ve never had those flavors together in sushi. Well done there. The burrata and tomatoes were okay, nothing special. My boyfriend’s strip was chewy and the plates come with no garnish, no roasted garlic or rosemary sprig so I thought the plating was bland, just a white plate and a hunk of meat. They served my filet mignon with steak sauce which I get having steak sauce in case people ask for it but serving it with the steak was odd to me because these steaks shouldn’t need steak sauce? The filet was very good though. Tender and buttery. The truffle mac and cheese had great flavor but was a little too watery and not dense enough, like there wasn’t enough noodles. Mashed potatoes were great and the broccoli was kind of soggy instead of crispy. I was sad none of these sides made it from my plate to home with me :( and I don’t know why that is. The chocolate mousse wasn’t mousse at all, it was heavy and dense and the top layer was like a ganache rather than a mousse though it was very good, just not what was described. And lastly I was super disappointed when I opened my takeaway box to see just steak and none of the sides I had paid money for. Overall the experience was mid, not what I think insignia should be based on the prices and what kind of dining experiencing they’re trying to portray. I expected more. We did get the prix fixe which we think was the mistake. My Bf has worked in steakhouses his whole life and suspects different cuts are used for the prix fixe menu so maybe we will be back just the two of us and order off the standard menu to see if there’s...
