Small, clean, attentive place. Heard great things from several people and decided to try. We arrived towards the end of lunch special time, for apps we ordered the dumplings in hot chili oil- amazing! Best dumplings I ever had..the dough was thin the filling was plentiful, and the sauce outstanding! We also ordered the honey ribs- they were tasty and meaty but not really my thing I'd say they were above average though. For lunch specials we got the Double cooked pork and dry pepper chicken...came with side of white rice..and either soup or spring roll for 11.50..my bf got the hot and sour soup he said was very good, I got the spring roll which was outstanding, so crispy not oily at all not even a drop of oil on plate and full of garlicky vegetables! The dry pepper chicken was fried to perfection and again not oily, thin coating of breading on them so flavorful, so spicy, the only complaint I would have is it was a tad too salty for me ( but I kept eating it lol) or I would've gave them 5 stars..the pork was so thin ,melted in your mouth, spicy, and with the veg just awesome! I highly recommend trying this place..We can't wait to go back! We'll we went back today for take out Maybe new chef ..maybe better eating in ...but we were terribly disappointed...the spring rolls and dumplings in chili oil totally different! We didn't eat them at all...meat was pink inside not sure if supposed to be that way but turned me off. The orange chicken was very good and the fried rice. Might try again but will...
Read moreAs another place I frequent often, Spicy Home Tasty has some of the best tasting authentic Chinese dishes (in addition to Americanized Chinese). I recommend starting out with the soup (that is good for a couple meals for one person or for a couple people to share). It comes in a separate serving bowl that you would ladle into your own smaller bowl. (Family Style) My favorite is the hot and sour soup, but for those who don’t like spice that much I would recommend the wonton and egg drop soup combination (special request). I got the dry pot as my main meal, something they are well known for. It is a bit on the spicy side so if you are not an adventurous eater, I would recommend asking for it mild. It has a delicious mix of wood ear mushrooms, lotus root, peppers, and others in addition to your protein of choice (I recommend beef if this is your first hotpot). Portions are fair, although they are not exceptionally large. The wait staff is very fast, and have a lot of knowledge to share if you have any questions. The atmosphere is average, but otherwise the food quality and taste is exceptional. All in all this is a wonderful and authentic restaurant that I would definitely recommend if you like Chinese food. Come see...
Read moreI will never go back!!! my experience was unbelievable, I went for lunch I was the first one in the restaurant and I ordered sesame chicken with broccoli. When I tasted the broccoli it was ice cold I called over the waitress and explained to her that the broccoli was cold and that I would like warm broccoli, she then wanted to take the broccoli that was in my plate and put it in a microwave. I told her you couldn’t take food off my plate and heated up in a microwave during Covid. Just bring me some hot broccoli. She then came back with a bowl of hot water for me to place my broccoli in. I have never seen this in a restaurant and hopefully will never see it again because I will never return to this restaurant. In addition I had asked for a glass of water and she returned with a glass filled with tapwater that was also warm… The waitresses attitude was very aloof and uncaring or just not thinking. I whole heartedly believe that the food that was served to me was left over from the day before. It was tasteless and greasy and her responses were inappropriate to say the least. I have been there before and did not have a problem. Everything is going downhill including this...
