What’s deceiving about the Southeast Grille House is that it looks like a simple tavern sitting all by itself on US6, but it has what is probably the best food and nicest wait staff of anywhere in the area.
The Chiera family has been serving 5-star meals for over two decades, so don’t let the looks fool you – this is the place to go on your next “date night” or for a group gathering.
The crab cake appetizer was spot on with nice size portions, and the seafood pasta special – with your choice of garlicky cream sauce or marinara – was chock full of fish, shrimp, calamari and cooked perfectly. The hanger steak with a merlot demi-glace was tender, juicy with brilliant grill marks on it.
The seating is divided between the bar area – with bar seats and booths and sports on a couple of TVs playing, and the main dining area with standard tables and chairs with plenty of spacing. Large parties (with reservations) can be comfortably seated in the latter.
To top off your dining experience is the wonderful wait staff. The service is prompt but more importantly they make you feel like you part of the family. They are very personal, friendly and responsive to requests.
So if you’ve never been – put this place on your short list. If you haven’t been in a while, here’s a reminder of what a great dining experience and value it is. And if you’re having a birthday or graduation or other gathering, this is the...
Read moreWe went for the second time last night and this place was 2 for 2! First time around we ordered a baked clams appetizer from the specials menu. My wife said they were the best she ever had. My wife ordered the penne with chicken which came with a creamy, yet light and flavorful sauce. I ordered the sliced hanger steak which had a merlot demi-glace, crumbled gorgonzola, mixed vegetables and potato. I couldn't get enough of it! Round 2 my wife did a repeat performance of her penne and I tried the lemon chicken, which contained a lemon chardonnay sauce. Was outstanding! Accompanying us were two of our dearest friends. They enjoyed their meals as well. For the four of us, the total cost came to $148 which included a bottle of wine and tip. Very reasonable! The bread was delicious too! The restaurant has 2 rooms; one a bar area to enjoy drinks and appetizers, while watching the game, and the other room; a nice atmosphere with a window peering through a beautifully landscaped backdrop, leading to the reservoir. We will...
Read moreWe had my daughter's bridal shower there a few weeks ago. Helen and her husband run an outstanding restaurant. Their staff is so attentive, the restaurant just so lovely inside, wrapped with a picturesque view out the back and a welcoming porch in the front. The food is authentically Italian, freshly homemade and our very Italian guests are still complimenting the the food from appetizers to dinner selections, and the cake! This is not a cake - this is an experience. Not a bit left to take home! Helen was incredible to work with, set the room better than I've seen anywhere, and she responds to you right away. This restaurant was chosen by the matron of honor. I had never been there before. I can not wait to go back for dinner as many times as possible! Thank you Southeast Grille House!! Thank you, Helen! It was a bridal shower that will be fondly remembered by our family...
