Wok This Way — Restaurant in Town of Ulysses

We've tried all the local Chinese restaurants, and each has its hits and misses. When this place first opened under its current name, we were thrilled , the food was outstanding. Unfortunately, the quality has declined somewhat over time.

The downside: On our most recent visit, the egg rolls were disappointingly mushy. The beef and broccoli had a gritty texture and an off flavor that made us question its freshness. The broccoli was undercooked and unpleasantly hard. Sadly, we ended up discarding that dish. It's disappointing when you pay $55 for an order. The previous order our crab rangoons were missing from the bag.

The upside: That said, some dishes continue to be reliably good. The Lo Mein is consistently delicious, and the crab rangoons, when included are tasty, especially with the flavorful sauce. I stopped in today to get lunch as I had an all day meeting in my office and I didn’t have the time to go home for lunch while also having the time to take a walk to stretch my legs. I ordered the Tofu in Garlic Sauce with a vegetable egg roll and white rice.

The food was ready in a reasonable amount of time and the staff was friendly. Everything was extremely well done and delicious. The tofu was well cooked without being overcooked, the vegetables were well cooked but not limp, the egg roll wasn’t overly greasy, and the rice wasn’t dry but moist and tasty. It...

Awesome! I tried Taiwanese shrimp and beef, and drunken noodles. The vegetables had that nice little bit of browning like hibachi vegetables. I have never tried toasted pepper sauce, but it was great. Portions were right where I would expect, I'm a big guy and one entree was plenty to fill me up.
