LONG REVIEW! My husband and I recently had a business trip in upstate and stayed here last minute. Keep in mind this hotel is essentially a house and everyone has a room with a bathroom. Lets start with the positive, the host/owner of this place is so sweet and gracious. She took us in last minute and we stayed in the room "Syrai" I think Im spelling that right. Each room has a different name and cost. With this room, it comes with breakfast. The breakfast was SO GOOD, fresh and delicious. The coffee was also great. That alone makes the additional cost worth it. The hotel and town reminds me of Mystic Falls from Vampire Diaries (if you're a milliennial you'll love that aspect). You're offered robes in your room, free waters and sparkling cans in the downstairs fridge. She also has games and mini snacks in the dining room. That was a treat!
On to some negatives or improvements that I think others would appreciate. Our room was very warm and stuffy after our showers, like there was no room air cirrculation. The shower in our room while very powerful comes with some small town charm. LOL you have to yank and twist to get it to work properly. The sink doesn't drain so you can't let it run for more than 3 secs before it starts to fill up which gives off a sewage smell. You want to be sure to bring your own soap and lotion, the ones offered are very tiny and not really enough for two people. Next is the bed and pillows, in our room in particular we had bed ledges at the foot of the bed that were so sharp I nearly took my ankle out. It definitely needs to be addressed because someone can really harm themselves there. Our mattress was not the most comfortable and our pillows weren't plush. Like they felt "cheap" for a "luxury" experience.
I say all this not to nitpick but rather to inform. This hotel is labeled and priced under "luxury" so it really depends on what you deem as luxury. My ideal would def be a very cozy plush bed, nice soap, lotion and towels. I think this place could do a little better in those aspects, however if that doesn't bother you,...
Read moreThe inn and grounds are lovely and the staff are warm and gracious! Furnishings in each room are nicely appointed with a lot of thought put into blending aesthetics and function. We stayed in the Merlot room upstairs in the back of the house with a beautiful, large Victorian architectural window overlooking the patio and garden. The bed was very comfortable and the staff happily changed pillows from down to down-alternative for us. The bedroom area is cozy in size but has a nice closet to tuck your luggage into and hang up clothes. The bathroom is large with plenty of vanity space and a roomy shower with multiple body sprays. Breakfast each morning is made fresh from locally-sourced items and rivals any gourmet breakfast to be found. I definitely recommend taking advantage of the spa at the inn. This building is also beautifully decorated and optimizes wellbeing and tranquility. We had a couples massage that was so relaxing that we actually fell asleep briefly. Trumansburg is a great central location between Seneca and Cayuga Lakes. The town has a few dining options that were great. You’re a short drive to Ithaca, Watkins Glen, Seneca Falls and everything in between, but you also get to enjoy a bit more of the countryside setting. The innkeepers, Melissa and Michelle, are very helpful with local knowledge and suggestions for sightseeing and activities. Oh, did I forget to mention the made-from-scratch treats that they set out for guests each evening, and also they keep a fridge stocked with water and soda. No need to figure out how you’re going to enjoy that bottle of wine you had to take with you after visiting one of the vineyards. The innkeepers have thought of everything and keep a stock of glasses, buckets, openers and ice for guests to use. If wine is not your thing, they’ve got you covered with martini glasses and mixers. Don’t give this one a second thought, book...
Read moreWe visited The Inn at Gothic Eves as the Finger Lake region was opening up after COVID. We are so grateful and feel so lucky to have found the Inn at Gothic Eves to call our home during our trip. Rose is lovely host and a wonderful person. She was engaging and accommodating from the first phone call to book the suite and an incredible delightful to talk to. She put you at ease the moment you chatted with her. In terms of COVID adjustments, she prescreened everyone with temperature checks, the place was spotless and there was purrell available everywhere as well as no-contact breakfast. You know you’re being served by a first-rate professional, but you also feel like you’re staying with family.
We stayed in the Syrah Suit, which was on the second floor of the main Inn. We enjoyed the beautiful room with heated floor. The room does face the street so can be slightly noisy from traffic which can be easily fixed by shutting the window. We adored and eagerly devoured the morning breakfasts that ranged from strawberry french toast with amazing sausage to delicious omelet sandwiches. Beside the breakfast being delicious, it was also local, organic and came with a sweet note. Typically, you text with Rose the evening before about breakfast time, and she will text you once it is ready. It is arranged on a portable tray in the main dining room which you bring up to your room to enjoy. We also greatly appreciated the nightly chocolate chip oatmeal cookies, and felt incredibly spoiled and pampered.
The Inn is located in a beautiful area with multiple national parks and wineries. We appreciated the easy access to Ithaca, Watkins Glen, Seneca Lake and Cayuga Lake. Taughannock Falls is just down the road! I would recommend making some reservations in the restaurants around the area due to variation in opening days and times. We are so grateful to Rose for the excellent hospitality, and hope to...
