Tuft's mainly has appeal as a local hang, mostly for older clientele. I've tried a lot of the menu and the food is all around just okay. Nothing very imaginative on the menu, but that's fine for the crowd they're catering to. I never drink here since I'm always driving, but the beer selection is also decently-sized but all very basic. It gets the job done and I am happy to come here with others who like it, but would never choose this place myself. Out of the things I've tried here (I've only had the veg and seafood dishes), my favourites have been the Santa Fe Veggie Burger (kind of surprising to get a good veggie burger at a place like this, but they grill it up nicely) and the Crabby Flatbread. The sundaes for dessert are decadent and fun. I have to say the experience seems to vary depending on whether or not you're considered a "regular". I come here most often with a group mostly made up of people who frequent the place and we get very nice treatment from the waitresses, but I came once with just one other person who, like me, only visits on occasion, and the same staff was noticeably less attentive and warm, but the service was still passable. I wouldn't recommend it if you're looking for fantastic food and above-and-beyond service (unless you're already a regular, but then you of course wouldn't be checking reviews), but it's a very safe choice if you just want a basic, straightforward American dinner, since nothing here has ever left me disappointed and I don't think the service is ever outright bad no matter who you are. And the...
Read moreJust got back from trying to eat at Harry Tuft's Publick House. I'm using the word "trying" because the food was basically inedible. I'm speaking directly to the owner of this restaurant: You run a restaurant. You are in the hospitality business. If you are going to make me wait over 30 minutes to receive my food, it better be something extra special! My first plate had cold dead fries. The fish was still a little warm. My wife’s dish was cold too and when she told the waitress that mine was cold, the waitress yanked the plate away without saying a word and left me there with my knife and fork in hand ready to grin and bear through another cold bite. When the waitress came back with my meal the fries were hot, and the fish was dead cold! Never, in my 64 years on this planet have I had such a poor quality meal and received such terrible service. On top of this the waitress basically called me a liar when I told her the fish was cold. There are plenty of restaurant options in the region. Your “restaurant” will not be...
Read moreI've eaten at Harry Tuft's, here and there, for roughly fifteen years. All of the food is delicious, and offers great variety. The bar atmosphere is fun. People generally drink and have a good time without getting rowdy or out of line. The bar is well stocked and the bartenders know how to make anything you ask for. Now that I'm a lot older than when I first started going with my family life is a lot busier. However, I still find the time to order a few dozen wings once or twice a month. They are the best wings in the area without any close competition. If I'm still living around the area when I'm even older I'll be taking my yet-to-be-born-kids to eat at Harry Tuft's just like my grandparents did with me. I can't explain enough how pleased I've been with this establishment over the course of my life. I would recommend stopping by to everyone I know. If you're worried about it being busy, as some bars/diners can get, go around 1-2 in...
