This was one of the only two restaurants that was open at the resort so we decided to give it a try. We had dinner reservations at 7:45 PM. Apparently, it was the earliest time we could get on a Friday night. We decided to walk down at 7:30 to see if we could get seated and to our surprise we got seated right away. However, no one came to give us water or introduce themselves for 45 minutes while we were sitting there and there were still plenty of open tables so it wasn’t like the restaurant was fully booked. Service was terrible - probably due to staffing issues and the reason why they gave us such a late reservation but I didn’t expect to wait that long. Our kids were asking if the food was almost ready and we hadn’t even ordered. By the time the waitress came around, we ordered drinks and food all at once. I made sure to ask for the kids food to come out first and good thing I did because our food took a while to come out too.
Besides service being terrible, the food that came out was delicious! My husband ordered an aged sirloin from their special menu and it was delicious but quite pricey. $65 for just the sirloin. He got a side of baked potatoes but he said it wasn’t the best. Our kids got the linguini in marinara and I ordered the tenderloin tips.
The ambiance was nice and made you feel like you’re in a fancy place (which it was supposed to be) but for the price we paid, service...
Read moreI'm basing this on one experience that I had going out for an anniversary because we couldn't understand why we were the only ones there at peak dinnertime although our waitress said not too unusual as it was a bit "between seasons" and maybe because it was a Thursday, but I wanted to review because we enjoyed our visit albeit a very empty visit, and to put in a good word to a local place.. My husband is always afraid to order steak because of price and usual disappointment but he thought his cut was cooked to his liking and very tasty. I ordered two of the specials of the day, asparagus with shaved parmesan and thinly sliced steak appetizer and seared tuna appetizer from the menu, and thought they were very good. I wasn't crazy about my martini for the price. It didn't even fill my glass in spite of three olives in it and the taste was "off" and my husband felt his cocktail was non-existent in alcohol but the dinner wine was good and the service was very friendly and attentive including the hostess who immediately came to offer to move us without us asking because of a crying child in our area, (the only other table inhabited and parents did their best and meltdown didn't last long) I would definitely revisit to try other items on the menu. A nice place to walk around inside and out with views and outdoor firepits to enjoy a...
Read moreThe atmosphere is ok. That's where the good ends. Was seated, and it took about 15 minutes for a server to even come over and acknowledge us. She was very nice and apologetic, at least.
We got our drinks, and then our server didn't acknowledge us for another 50 minutes, apologizing for the wait and saying she thinks our appetizer, a shrimp cocktail, should be out soon. We let her know that patience was growing thin, and we were not worried about the appetizer, were more worried about the food. Side note, other tables felt the same as food trickled out at a crawl, and tables of 4 people had one person at a time served with others forced to wait.
The kicker, the place is called Carvers Steakhouse, AND THEY DON'T HAVE STEAK ON THE MENU FOR ANY LUNCH TIMES!
After another 15 minutes of nothing, we got up, talked to the host station, and told them we were no longer waiting and offered to pay for our drinks. They were understanding, expressed apologies, and didn't have us pay for any drinks.
Will never go there again and will never...
