Lizzie Keays Kitchen and Cocktails
Nestled in the serenity and beauty of the Lake George area in the Adirondacks region of New York, local celebrity Billy Trudsoe - B Tru, as he’s called - has created his own star.
While B Tru appeared in 2022 on the reality competition, Hell’s Kichen (with renowned chef Gordon Ramsay), his real spotlight moments can be witnessed at Lizzie’s, his first foray into owning his own place. (He is also executive chef at Basil & Wick’s Restaurant & Bar in North Creek).
We started with
Tuna Toastinis Sesame Encrusted - Cucumber Slaw Arugula - Wasabi Aioli - Honey Soy Reduction.
Fun to eat as a hand food and exactly what was advertised.
No surprises.
Yummy.
I’d get it again.
We completed the appetizers with
Goat Cheese salad - cherry Tomatoes Craisins - Cherry Tomatoes - Granny Smith Apples - Mint Berry Vinaigrette.
Good grief !!!!
Cue Andy Williams.
“Where do I begin…to tell the story of how great a love can be?!”
Now I don’t usually see cherry tomatoes in in a salad like this.
However the REAL special guest was the mint berry vinaigrette.
I felt like that girl from Willy Wonka.
Mint berry ?!!!?!!
Whoever heard of a mint berry before ?!?!!?!
The back of my tongue tingled and it opened to all the ingredients that were fresh and delicious.
On to the main courses -
Black Forest Chicken Parmesan & Basil Egg Battered - Cremini Mushrooms & Baby Spinach Risotto - Sherry Beurre Blanc
As casted.
No surprises.
Extremely flavorful and solid.
The risotto was perfectly cooked al dente. The chicken was moist while the coating was neither dry nor mushy.
I’d get it again for a “rerun” highly anticipated.
Jumbo shrimp. Sautéed - Smoked Feta - Cherry Tomatoes- Butternut Squash - Sweet Peas - Sherry Butter Sunday Sauce - Spaghetti
The squash and sherry butter achieved a delicate balance of a sauce that lubricated the pasta, but didn’t drown it.
I was amazed how all the ingredients worked together. Nothing was inordinate.
If I wasn’t in public I would have licked my plate.
Oh wait.
I couldn’t lick my plate anyway, because portions for this entree (and the salad) were hearty enough to necessitate welcomed leftovers.
Our server showed her knowledge about local craft beer and the menu options while also exhibiting an enjoyment about having the conversation with my companion (which made my heart sing - I’m a bit of a “beer snob”).
The hostess came around with a smile and refills on water before you needed to ask.
Prices were either fair or below what you might find at a restaurant with food like this.
The atmosphere was elegant but welcoming.
I tried to look good for my date, there were seniors in one corner who were appropriately attired but not looking to impress anyone, and there was a small child a few tables away from us.
EVERYONE thrived and was comfortable.

Read moreMy wife and I decided to try this place out because it had one of the best Yelp reviews in the area. The moment you enter the dining room you can tell the experience is going to be exceptional. The decor combines elegance and a rustic charm that is very inviting. The wait staff continue the vibe by being friendly and knowledgeable, especially our waiter Nick.
The cocktails we started with were the Summer Rum Punch and the Strawberry Margarita. Each was perfectly balanced and delicious.
We were served fresh baked bread with butter that I believe contained chive and maybe orange zest. It was a wonderful start to our meal. We were given a watermelon sorbet palate cleanser before the entree that was an incredible experience.
The entrees we decided on were the Pork Ribeye and the Jumbo Shrimp. The details of each dish on their menu made it difficult to decide, they all sounded incredible.
The Pork Ribeye was fork tender and possibly the best pork dish I’ve ever had the pleasure to be served. It came with perfectly seasoned mashed potatoes and corn. I took each bite slowly to savor the dish as long as I could. I didn’t want to take a sip of my drink because I didn’t want to lose the flavor of the entree!
The generous portion of Jumbo Shrimp was served with spaghetti in a sherry butter sauce, butternut squash, feta, and peas. My wife described it as dance of wonderful flavors and worth savoring.
The owner of the restaurant, Billy Trudsoe, a chef graduate of SUNY and a competitor in season 21 of Gordon Ramsey’s Hell’s Kitchen, came to our table to greet us, take a picture with us, and even brought us our dessert! Our dessert was a Black Cherry Chocolate Tart that was an amazing end to an incredibly delectable meal.
I chose to accompany the dessert with a Heaven’s Door Ascension Bourbon on the rocks, while my wife had a second Strawberry Margarita.
After dessert, I took a walk around the restaurant to further explore their outdoor dining area and their additional dining room. Both were beautiful, clean, well decorated, and welcoming.
My wife and I felt truly blessed to have this experience, and we consider it the best dining experience we’ve ever had in the...
