The RDI Bar & Road Kill Grill — Restaurant in Town of Wawarsing

Went here twice and both times had a bad experience. First time we made reservations because we had a big group so we wanted to make sure they had a table for us. We arrive only to find out that someone gave our table away. The owner wanted to put us in the room off to the side but it had no AC. It was extremely hot and humid so we all declined. I sensed right away from the look on her face that she was annoyed. They finally managed to sit us inside.

The wings were very good and so was the bacon. However, the burgers were just OK, nothing special about them and no one else seemed too thrilled about what they got.

The inside is interesting with the choice of decorations.

Second time here was with 4 other people and this time the experience was even worse.

The waitress took our orders and was very nice but after that it all went downhill from there.

All of our entrees came out at different times and it wasn't even busy.

This time the bacon wasn't cooked properly and my prime rib was disgusting! I couldn't even eat it. It had no taste, nor did the au jus. Everyone said to me that it must have been frozen, not fresh. It also had too much fat. We brought it to the attention of the manager and owner. Once again, she got an attitude. This is not the way to run a restaurant and treat customers. They did take something off the bill which was appreciated. All in all the food is average, the service is slow and they get confused. The atmosphere is nice. The food was hit & miss. I enjoyed the fish tacos. The meatloaf was good. My friend’s burger was good, but not made how she asked. My other friend had the prime rib, and said it was the worst she had, ever. It had no taste and was full of fat. The candied bacon was sliced very thick, so it wasn’t cooked through. The main issue was the service. We waited over an hour for our food to be delivered (my poor mother waited 15 minutes longer… for something as simple as meatloaf)!!! There were only 5 of us! The people that came in after us were served long before we were, and were already gone by the time our food arrived. The manager was a very, very nice gentleman, and apologized repeatedly. We stopped by while in town had high hopes based on the vibe, and honestly, it started off strong. Service was fantastic, staff was friendly, and the food tasted great. I ordered the burger, got some gator bites, and a mac and cheese for my daughter. Everything came out looking and tasting solid.

But about four hours later, I was violently sick. That burger was the only real meal I’d had all day, so I’m fairly confident it was the culprit. It tasted fine at the time, but it gave off that “been sitting for a bit” feeling—maybe pre-cooked and held too long. We had come in around 4pm, so maybe I caught the lull.

I dropped $54 and ended up sick for the night. That’s a tough deal. Great service and good flavor, but if I can't trust the food, I can't...
