0 STAR REVIEW! My grandmother was sent there after a terrible battle with septic shock in February of this year, all was going well in the beginning and the staff was very open and honest with us about how they felt my grandmothers rehabilitation with them would go, after not even a month we were having meetings with the head of the nursing staff about the absolute neglect served by the nurses of ELLENVILLE REGIONAL HOSPITAL REHAB WARD. Each day they are meant to serve their duties listed on their website, care everyday, oral care daily, showers weekly, help with eating your meals, getting to move, being changed if unable to walk, they said they would get her out of bed everyday and didnât, they didnât live up to any of their âpromisesâ Most days me and my mother would go to visit and she would still be in the same clothes as days prior, she was not eating and they were allowing her not to eat and making her fend for herself, my grandmother suffered severe delerium at the cost of Ellenville regionalâs lack of care from her getting re-occurant urinary tract infections. She was sent back to vassar hospital because the head nurseâs MATT AND KAROLâs wrong observation of what they thought were gallstones. In a true belief of them to save their own selves I believe they sent my grandmother back to the hospital knowing she was dying and would not document anything of the source. When re-entered to vassar hospital she was severely confused, NO GALLSTONES AT ALL. urinary tract infection and severe MALNUTRITION. MALNUTRITION!! at the cost of a place who is supposed to be helping you get back to every day life? How dare they is all I can say. I have never been more hurt and furious with a nursing staff in my entire life. My grandmother would be left for 12+ hours in the same diaper and food spewed all over the place because she was trying to eat with her own hands because the nursing staff told her that âitâs part of rehab learning to feed yourselfâ if you care about your families well being please do not send them here ESPECIALLY IF THEY ARE A HIGH PRIORITY CASE. my grandmother had a wound vac which had a foul odor the entire time of being in Ellenville regional, as soon as she was properly cared for in the hospital that foul odor/mild infection was gone. As far as the physical therapy staff I think most of are great. The physical therapists did not lack in their department, but as far as the nursing staff. I couldnât be more disgusted with the way they chose to handle things and they way they chose to care for my grandmother, we were almost positive we would lose her strictly from neglect from this facility. If you care for your family member at all in any shape or form.. do not...
Read moreEllenville Hosp has had horrible care for 30-40 years. Right now the nurses are pretty good, but the MD's are so-so. I had a very obnoxious and rude receptionist that jerked me around forever, even after I gave her my and my in-patient wife's name and room number. I had gone in and out of this hospital for decades without incident. On Sat Dec 28, 2024 at aprx 12:40 pm this receptionist was obnoxious to the point that I left before retorting. She sic'd security and a volunteer ? on me in my wife's room (where I told her I was going) and stated that I had to return to this clerk's thumb. I offered to leave & did so without going thru the lobby. I have not visited my wife (over her birthday) because of this abusive receptionist and will not return and advise others to make better choices elsewhere. THey need better functionaies to greet visitors without incident........
(reply) Perhaps then you could explain why I was inside your 'secure' hospital with open doors until late on multiple days & nights. I don't abide with rudeness or unnecessary BS like you just delivered. I have been in private, state & federal security most of my life and gave your abusive clerk my name, my (patient) wife's name & room number. What more do you require ? Hand stamp like at a party ?
Perhaps you should take a tour of Englewood NJ hospital (where my wife actually had her back surgery) . This is a hospital where they scan your drivers lic and are polite and professional in all their depts. Staff at this location are well trained. Their hallways are cleaner than most hospital OR's, Very Impressive. I've been to hundreds of hospitals and yours (at best) is inconsistent. is no...
Read moreBack in 2007, I suffered a severe subarachnoid brain hemorrhage and was transported by ambulance to Ellenville Regional Hospital's ER. The doctor on duty quickly realized that my situation exceeded the resources available at this excellent-but-small community hospital, and moved like lightning to arrange my transport via helicopter to a Level 1 Trauma Center (Albany Medical Center). At Albany Med, where I stayed for a couple of weeks, they told me that the swift response from Ellenville Regional's ER staff saved my life.
I had little additional contact with Ellenville Regional until this year (2023), when I ended up in the ER three times (for pneumonia and painful back spasms) and ultimately ended up being referred to both their outpatient Physical Therapy and Cardiac Rehabilitation Units. At all turns, I was absolutely blown away by the expert, meticulous, and compassionate care that I received. The staff not only tremendously helped me physically, but also offered outstanding emotional support. By the time I completed treatment, I had a thoroughly positive outlook and an orientation toward all that I CAN accomplish.
I am tremendously grateful that I have come through some very challenging medical situations and am healthy and happy, and I know that Ellenville Regional Hospital was instrumental to my recovery. We are so, so blessed and fortunate to have this wonderful facility right in our community, and I recommend it without reservation...
