Shanley Hotel — Hotel in Town of Wawarsing

Where to even begin!? I wasn't sure exactly what I was getting myself into when my friend, and I booked at The Shanley for their Valentines Day spooky suarez...but what I did know was I was excited to do something I have always wanted to do on one of my least favorite holidays! From the ridefrom Connecticut, up to the very moment we entered the town... I knew this was going to be a great adventure! What I didn't realize was just how much I would enjoy this little escape! Upon our arrival, we were greeted by Kelly (the owner) and Nancy, who I can only describe as the most down to earth, and simply mind blowing psychic medium...sorry not sorry Mort! Our room (Esther's room) was very neat, cozy, and clean! Even though they list rooms with shared bathrooms...they honestly have so many bathrooms that ours was truly our own! The Shanley itself is stunning in the way it is maintained...you truly feel like you are stepping back in time! While we went for a haunting experience it was so much more than just that! The other groups / couples were great...and we all shared the same curiosity! The food was delicious, and so much more than we ever expected...as a matter a fact I wish I had some NOW! Nancy well...she was so great with the way she conducted her guided tour. While lighthearted, she was respectful, and very thorough with making sure we truly knew the history of the Shanley and it's residents, and really taught us how to get the most out of our experience as opposed to giving us a smoke show and throwing a bunch of equipment our way with no idea what we were doing! You could absolutely feel how much love goes into the Inn by the way they interacted with both the residents, and the guests! All in all I honestly cannot wait to return! I am truly hoping to come back for my 50th birthday this summer with a small group of my closest friends so we can all experience the magic of the Shanley together!

I visited the Shanley the end of June with a group of friends for an event. I have known about the Shanley for some time but too nervous to stay overnight. Once you make it around the bend on Main St coming from the North, the building illuminates in front of you. From the outside the Shanley doesn’t look too big but once your inside it’s massive. Kelly, Tracy, and Stephanie were all amazing. So knowledgeable and they made you feel like you have known them for ages. The seance room where the event presentations (which were wonderful) were held looked amazing as it had just been renovated. The rooms are all so unique and very clean and well kept. The bed in the gentleman’s quarters where I slept was so comfy ( although I couldn’t sleep). I experienced undeniable activity as soon as I stepped into the Shanley. I heard disembodied voices waiting for the presentations to begin, what felt like electricity surging through me, anxious feelings, also swore we saw someone peeking out one of the 3rd story windows at us from the parking lot BUT those are covered windows. No one can look out. I found out weeks after that people walking by have experienced the same which is wild. The staff led investigation was great and some of the activity and EVP responses were just fantastic! After the staff led investigation we were able to go on our own and it certainly was an unforgettable night! The 3rd floor can be investigated but there are no rooms to sleep in. The energy up there was intense, but the entire building from the porch to the 3rd floor has crazy energy. The scrying room is intense. I would definitely recommend trying it. The staff, the spirits and the presenters made my first experience with the Shanley absolutely incredible and I cannot wait to visit again soon! I highly recommend booking a night at...
