There was a time when this coffee shop felt like a second home. After school, we’d gather here—kids with books, laptops, guitars—and stay well into the evening, buoyed by warm lights, better coffee, and the occasional live set that made the place feel like something more than just a caffeine stop. It used to be open later, which mattered, especially for students looking for a safe, welcoming place to work or hang out after the bell rang. Now, those hours have been cut short, and with them, a lot of what made the place special.
The shift hasn’t just been in time, though—it’s in the tone, too.
Prices have crept up noticeably, which, while frustrating, I might have forgiven had the quality stayed where it was. Unfortunately, it hasn't. On weekdays, the drinks are hit or miss, and the vibe behind the counter is... indifferent at best. The weekday baristas rarely smile, and there’s often a kind of low-grade sarcasm in the air—especially when someone orders a blended drink. I’ve overheard more than one joke made at a customer’s expense (not mean-spirited exactly, but enough to make you think twice about ordering something “complicated”).
Worse than the attitude, though, is the actual execution. Some drinks taste rushed or imbalanced. There’s one barista in particular who consistently pulls espresso shots too fast—the result being watery, pale pulls that have none of the depth or richness they should. And I would know because I've worked at more than one café in my life. The drinks come out under-mixed, too—I've gotten iced lattes where the syrup sat untouched at the bottom.
Contrast this with the weekend crew, who honestly seem like they’re working at a different café altogether. They take their time, they ask how your day is going, they smile—and it doesn’t feel forced. The drinks taste better, period. Balanced, thoughtful, consistent. I wish they were working seven days a week.
I also can’t ignore how much I miss some of the baristas who’ve left over the past year or so. Their drinks were precise, and they made the place feel genuinely warm. You could feel the difference when they were behind the counter.
I know that no café can stay exactly the same forever. Staff change, priorities shift, and economies don’t do any of us favors. But I do miss the care that used to go into every part of this place. Now, it feels like the heart is only half-beating—alive on weekends, going through the motions the rest of the time.
I’m still rooting for them. I wouldn’t have taken the time to write this if I didn’t care. But for now, it’s mostly nostalgia—and a Saturday morning coffee—that keeps me...
Read moreMy first time here and it was a very pleasant experience. All the workers were in a good mood and seemed to be enjoying their day. A lot of open space, so while having a very cozy and comfortable feel, it doesn't feel cramped. A lot of beautiful local artwork and crafts for sale and a fun artsy painting on the wall. Music that added to the atmosphere and seemed pretty neutral to everyone's tastes. The mocha was pretty standard, but I wasn't expecting anything more. The turkey wrap was light and refreshing, but still plenty filling. The chips seemed homemade (I didn't ask, so don't quote me on that) and complimented the wrap well. Definitely the type of place I could see people coming to get a coffee and hang out or get some work done. All in all, a wonderful experience and I would definitely recommend it if you're...
Read moreVery beautiful coffee shop. Unfriendly service. Decent espresso. I came in 15 minutes before close (1:45pm) and could immediately feel they wanted me out quickly. I requested a 10oz single shot drink as they only serve 16 or 20 oz and they forgot. Unfortunately, I didn't notice until the barista was toping off my 16oz cup.. I asked for it to be remade as I had ordered. Always uncomfy having to do that and their response was agitated and hasty. I care a lot about the energy going into drink creation and despise when my drinks are made hastily and without care or passion. I've been a barista for over 5 years and have never made customers feel like a nuisance coming in before close.. much less 15 minutes! Am not inclined to go here again even though their espresso is better than Daily Drip...
