If I could give zero stars, I would. This was by far the WORST experience i've ever encountered in my life. We were sat in the restaurant after being already ignored at the hostess stand while everyone walked right by us for at least a good 5 minutes. Then we had asked for some descriptions of what was in some of the cocktails on the menu, and some beer recommendations only for the server to respond with "umm I'm only 18 so like I don't know", and she couldn't even be bothered with a simple "i'm not sure, but let me go find out for you!". The restaurant was clearly staffed almost entirely of teenagers who had the general vibe of not giving a damn about their job or customer service.
Then when someone else in my party had placed an order, the description did not accurately represent the food that we received at all, if we wanted a taco salad we would have asked for just that. When we told the waitress about the issue she rebutted with "well this IS what you ordered so.." and proceeded to tell us she was still going to have to charge us for the dish even though we had asked simply for them to replace it.
All of this of course happened after I received what was supposed to be an alcoholic drink, that tasted like watered down orange juice, and similarly my friend received poor quality food and a beverage that also seemed to have no liquor in it. I was so infuriated that I just requested the check and left after not finishing even half of my food.
I also asked for extra sides, of simple things like cheese and sour cream, which are pretty standard in a mexican restaurant. I never received those either. We asked to speak with the manager, that didn't happen either.
Horrid doesn't even begin to describe this experience and the service, as we've frequented this restaurant at its old location many times and never had an issue. I should have listened to the other recent terrible reviews and just gone to taco bell instead of wasting our time and money only to be bad mouthed in the background (yes, I heard all the chatter and everything you were saying over at the bar.) Actually, we DID stop at taco bell after our dinner to receive far superior service, to be greeted with a smile, and with hot and fresh food that far surpasses the rudeness and lack of consideration/remorse...
Read moreThere wasn't anything particularly horrible about it, it just didn't taste like food I'd want to pay for at a (supposedly) good quality sit down Mexican restaurant. What was atrocious was the level of allergen contamination I received despite being promised that they would prepare my food in a separate and sanitary measure after informing them about my rice allergy and celiac disease.
I ordered a Fajita plate that came with beef, chicken, and shrimp, and asked the waiter to make sure that it didn't have rice or flour tortillas on my plate, as I can not consume either, and cross contamination will make me very sick. Lo and behold when the plate arrives it has both on it, so I asked if they could make me a plate without either on it, and sent it back. It came back VERY QUICKLY, I'd say maybe 5-10 minutes after I sent it back, so I happily ate it. I will say that it tasted decent, but there was no seasoning on it, and the salsa at the table tasted like marinara sauce with a few hot pepper seeds in it (extremely mild, zero spice).
After eating I began having a runny nose, which I attributed to some of the salsa that came with it, but after leaving the restaurant I started experiencing a skin rash and stomach cramps, which lasted until the next day. I suspect that my plate was not remade, and that they simply removed the rice and tortillas from my plate and brought it back to me.
(For reference, I am not from Niagara, and came here last year in July. I'm updating my older review because it lacked in detail, but I was reminded of this place because of a text message I found on my phone from the day after, where I was complaining to a...
Read moreI have been waiting with excitement for the new Wheatfield location to open. Finally opened and dined there tonight. I requested a booth as I always do in restaurants. There are much larger people than myself, but I wedge myself between the table and seat to sit down. It was so tight, we requested to be moved to a table. Tables had no silverware or napkins at any of them. 10 minutes in no one waited on us even for a drink order. Bus girl came by and said she would bring us chips and salsa. Chips were good, but almost gone and still no waitress. We finally got up to leave because of no service when waitress finally apologized and said she would put priority on our order. I ordered margarita and wife ordered red wine. Still no napkins or silverware. We ordered with the drinks guacamole and a cheese dip for the chips. We also asked for silverware and napkins. We didn't get any appetizer plates for our chips and dips so table became quite messy. Margarita was good, red wine was cold. Waitress said many customers sent wine back as all the red wine bottles were chilled. We're given another margarita at no extra charge to make up for wine .
Dinner arrived! Tacos by recommendation of waitress. 3 tacos on 4" shells with steak pieces, raw onions and a sauce to put over top of them. No cheese, sour cream, lettuce, tomatoes, or guacamole with it. Wife's taco salad was no bigger than a lunch salad. Very small taco bowl shell. My side of rice and refried beans came 10 minutes after my dinner. It was cold and didn't eat it.
