Walking in your greeted with warm smiles and great hospitality. The restaurant beautifully located inside a cozy bed and breakfast designed with deep woodsy imprints and the slightest hint of the smell of firewood in the corner. First course is bread so soft and warm as it if just came out of the oven. The butter smooth as silk. Crisp radishes with a hint of salt, olive oil, and exquisite aged comte cheese. If your heart starts beating rapidly by bread and butter you know you're off to the right start. The technique and execution of the dishes is what makes this place stand out. Croquettes, first bite crispy on the outside, hot and steamy inside; perfect ratio of crust to potato without any empty spaces in between. Oozing cheese from dauphine potatoes, it makes you ohh soo good-ly hesitate from the hot temperature. One after the other a melody of dishes of delicate flavors, peppery, tangy, thin thin thin crunch, soft, poetry in my mouth. Next time, what looked like a potato salad, I'm ordering all to myself. Ruby red prawns with shiso, lusciously plump, aromatic and bright...thinking about it now makes me lick my lips. Oh and the light buttery chanterelles with the raviolo, thin thin thin pasta so fine. The sauce becomes one with the raviolo and the finely grated cheese and truffles disappears once it hits your mouth. I could go on about all the deliciousness , but I'll save the rest for you to be surprised by. I would recommend everything. Shoot, I would make sure to come with an appetite an order everything on the menu. Make sure to save room for the coffee and desserts. Because if you didn't get the dessert (s), you would be missing out. Trust me on...

The cocktail program is fancy and fun. They're using carbonation in several of their drinks, and the results are unique and delightful. We loved the Mangoes Into A Bar and the Bird In Hand. Gorgeous, delicious cocktails.
The bar area itself is upscale and cozy, a perfect place to just have a drink or even a more casual dinner. Note: They have a bar menu with different food selections than they offer in the restaurant. And if weather permits, grab a drink and walk around in the beautiful gardens out back.
All the food we had was delicious. The sourdough bread is melt-in-your-mouth magic. The dauphine potatoes are not to be missed. The Amish chicken is incredibly juicy and perfectly cooked. We also loved the sundae. Everything was just perfect.
We interacted with several employees, primarily Pat the bartender, and Teak was our server. They were both super friendly, helpful, and efficient.
We truly loved everything about our experience here, and we will certainly be back. Can't recommend...
Read moreThe Catskills has been missing a restaurant like Matilda. From the second you walk into the beautiful Henson hotel , and make your way into Matilda, there is nothing but beautiful decor all around. It definitely gives you a warm and inviting feeling to just be there. The bar is beautiful with its own bar menu and incredible specialty cocktails. I had the Captain Phillips which was a more delicate version of a margarita (loved it) also enjoyed some apps before dinner at the bar. Everything was quite delicious my favorite was the chickpea fritters! ( I say it’s a must) We finally made our way down to our table for dinner and we were in awe of all the delicious dishes we had. Everything was cooked to perfection, the service was outstanding, the music/ ambiance was just perfect. My favorite dishes were the roasted onion dish, the cannelloni, the smoked steelhead trout & the dauphine potatoes & can’t even begin to speak of the desserts. I’ve never tried anything so special like them . I’d say have all 3 when you go. Might as well just get everything in the menu. But I highly recommend this new restaurant. Looking forward to coming...
