We've been going here for years because it's close by, but I'm done after last night. TL;DR/summary: bad ice cream soda, staff talking about me in front of me, really old kit kat toppings, old/crystallized ice cream Ice cream sodas are either excellent here or awful, but the excellent ones are worth the risk. Last night I got up to the window to order 4 ice creams for my family--2 soft serves with toppings, 1 hard ice cream, and an ice cream soda. The 3 ice creams come out looking fine, the soda comes last. I don't see any ice cream on the soda, but figure it must've fallen in. In the past, a good ice cream soda has the tonic/milk/flavoring part filling up at least 3/4 of the cup, with ice cream on the edge of the cup or on the side in a separate cup if we're taking it to go. In driving the 3 min back to our house the ice cream soda has deflated to the point where it now fills less than half the cup; the rest of it had been foam. It's a $5-$6 ice cream, so we turn around to get it fixed. I get up to the window, show the server who'd made it what had happened, and asked her to re-make it. She was nice and obliging. Once the screen was closed I heard her ask the other girl working as well as the manager how to make an ice cream soda correctly. Her manager looks into the cup, outlines how to make an ice cream soda, the girl says "that's what I did" and then her manager responds "it's hot out; ice cream is going to melt." It was low 70° out; it was 9:30pm. She proceeds to talk to the girls working about me and my unrealistic expectations right in front of me as though I weren't there and there wasn't just a screen between us. The manager brings the soda to the window, so I explain "hey sorry I'm not trying to be rude, we're just here all the time so I know what this is supposed to look like, and we had the ice cream for less than 5 minutes; it seems like it was mostly foam and I couldn't see the ice cream" She says that she'll re-train the girls, but I'd already been listening to them talk about me for the last five minutes, so am really not feeling any genuine kindness in this interaction. The group of them stare us down as we leave this place. To top this all off, the coffee ice cream was covered in ice crystals, the toppings on my ice cream were very old tasting (they were kit kat pieces that were chewy somehow) and I realized that all of our ice creams were the same size even though I'd ordered 2 mediums...

Read moreOne of those seasonal ice cream stands that also offers other foods such as fish sandwiches, seafood, burgers, pizza, hot dogs, onion rings fries...etc. I got the kiddie size of ice cream for myself and my son, which came to $8.90, two cans of soda which came to $2.90. I brought a Ice Cream Factory t-shirt for my son costing $15.00. The young lady who waited on us was professional, polite and friendly so I added a $5.00 tip. Bringing the whole bill to $33.68 (tax included). I found the Ice Cream Factory to be somewhat pricey, but it was a nice drive going there and the ice cream was good, (even though it wasn't homemade) and they had a large selection of different flavors. It seems to be a popular place, lots of people there when we went. I spoke to a woman, who had gotten food, and she said they make the best fish sandwich and that her grandkids love their pizza, so maybe we'll go back...
