Friendly and caring service in a very cozy atmosphere. The restaurant was very clean, and I liked that the menu wasn’t too long; there was something for everybody, but the menu wasn’t so long that you’d get overwhelmed.
Unfortunately, the food that I got was very forgettable. It wasn’t bad, it was actually fine, but it wasn’t so delicious that I must return, you know what I mean? Like, I don’t think I’ll ever wake up one morning hankerin’ to go back.
I got the fish and chips, which was breaded fish and came with coleslaw and fries.
THE GOOD: generous portion of fish, which I could also tell was fresh. It was tender and flaky in the best way. The coleslaw was delicious; serious, I want the recipe!
THE BAD: the fish was battered, but not in that thick and crispy / puffy fish ‘n’ chips batter. This was more like…a thin batter that barely coated the filet. Furthermore, instead of being served with malt vinegar, I was given a small lemon wedge and some tartar sauce. It wasn’t bad, just very meh and forgettable. It just tasted boring, you know? I think that if they spruce up the recipe, we’d have a winner.
Our waitress was very nice, and we did leave a generous tip because although the recipe for what we ordered was boring, we did have a good experience. The food was not bad, it was just boring. I’m undecided on whether I will...
Read moreI haven't visited in about 20 years. It was everything I remember. We had clam strips, potato skins, steak tips, chicken parm. And a few....delicious cold beers and Wallys. Definitely our treat day. The food was giant portions. Hot, fresh and delicious.
Olivia was our server. We were on date night. We have super busy lives and we definitely needed this. She was so fun. Personable, professional and definitely knows her menu. She was awesome.
Thank you T-House for being exactly what I remembered.
We will be back May 20. Eva was our server this time. Had a few Wallys, colors lights. An 1800 for desert lol.
The burgers Omg hot off the grill and delicious. Best Cole slaw ever and I'm a Cole slaw junkie. Eva was spot on. Friendly. Knew her menu.
She got it right.
We will make this one of our regular haunts.
Hasn't changed. That's why it's great
June 27 2024. Melissa. Great personality. Completely knowledgeable about her menu and bar. She gave my request of ingredients to bar and I got the most delicious shot. I'm bias. Retired professional bartender. THouse never disappoints. Once in a while I need a break from career and our hectic schedule. Best food. Best service. Ty Dickhauts for keeping it consistent for 50...
Read moreMy wife and I had never been to the Townsend House before and decided to try it for lunch today (Friday, April 8) around 1:15 p.m. I'd love to give a review of the food but unfortunately, the bartender (long, straight black hair, mid-30s+ woman) wasn't interested in serving us.
We walked in, sat down, and the bartender never even acknowledged us. She tended to everyone else, cashed out a few other patrons, and made no effort to at the very least tell us, "I'll be right with you."
After about 5 minutes, we decided to leave. We ended up at the 99 in Fitchburg and within minutes of sitting down, had a drink in front of us and were ordering lunch.
I tipped our bartender $20 cash on a $47 bill (I always way over tip for good service).
The Townsend House was a one and done for us. Won't ever go back. I'd say that it was the TH bartender's loss, but based on the look on her face and the fact that she couldn't be bothered to acknowledge let alone serve us, I'd guess she...
