UPDATE: I recently went to Memo's (7-29-24) while on our road trip and changed my rating from 4 stars to 5 across the board. Everything, including the service, food and atmosphere was exceptional. Our server (this time around) was very friendly, polite and kind. She treated us very well and with respect. The food was terrific and WOW, such large portions at an incredibly reasonable price. The porkchop breakfast was fit for a king. Two, huge, grilled chops (kingsize portions) plus eggs, hashbrowns and toast. Definitely leftovers from that breakfast. The other meal served was just as good. Huge omelet overstuffed with ham and cheese, southern style potatoes and toast. Everything was cooked to perfection. Definitely, worth the price paid. So glad I gave Memo's another chance. We received great service, awesome food and had a wonderful time at breakfast. Highly recommend Memo's and I'll certainly be back the next time. Since I never been to Michigan City, IN, and Memo's was recommended to me by my hotel's front desk staff, I decided to check it out. It was a quick 15-minute drive from New Buffalo, MI and the food was wonderful. Prices are reasonable for what you order and that was welcomed. So many different and delicious meals, too. I chose the potato pancakes, eggs and bacon. The other breakfast ordered was chocolate chip pancakes, eggs and bacon. No toast was served with any of my orders. Disappointed with that aspect, but food was very good. This place was lively, but not overcrowded. Meals came in a reasonable amount of time. As for the server, he wasn't that good. It was like a chore for him to wait on just the two of us. He seemed to have an attitude and spoke so fast and quietly, I had to have him repeat almost everything twice. He rarely came back to check on us after serving the meal. Waited so long for coffee refills, too. I can only give him a 2-star rating at best. I wasn't impressed with him as a server at all, however, everyone else I came in contact with was wonderful. I won't hold the dismal wait service against Memo's and will give it a try again when visiting Michigan...

Whether you're looking for breakfast, lunch or dinner, Memo's House of Pancakes can accommodate you! I had the pleasure of returning (one of several times I might add) to Memo's this week and it did not disappoint, as usual.
When the thought of having a delicious breakfast crossed my mind, Memo's was my immediate choice . Located at 1714 US - 20 in Michigan City IN, this restaurant is family owned and operated and you couldn't find a nicer one. They are always hospitable and take good care of their customers.
Be prepared though, the menu is extensive with many tantalizing options. I ordered a combination breakfast with fresh eggs, absolutely delicious bacon (a rare but wonderful treat) with french toast. I rarely finish a meal at one sitting, but this time I ate it all!
It just happened to be Wednesday when their soup is always a wonderful Chicken and Dumpling. My server, Joy, was very attentive and charming and helped me stage the soup for a photo as I had it wrapped later to take home with me for dinner.
The interior of the restaurant is always festive with decorations to compliment the seasons throughout the year. With three dining rooms, they can accommodate large parties. However, I would imagine that they'd appreciate some advance notice in such cases. In addition, they provide alfresco dining for your pleasure upon entering the restaurant.
You simply cannot go wrong at Memo's. With great food and service in a lovely, friendly environment, put Memo's House of Pancakes on your bucket list of...
Read moreDecent food sucky waitress. I asked for a coffee refill 4 times & finally got up & got the coffee pot myself. I refilled not only my coffee cup but almost every other customer's cup on our side.
I emptied a full pot & made a new one. Our waitress saw me & she didn't apologise, say thank you, not squat. She gave us our bill when she served us our meal. The person I was with wanted dessert & boy was she hot.
Then when the cashier asked the people in front of us how was everything the elderly gentleman told him flat out the way it was. "Our waitresses was missing in action. I got 1 cup of coffee from her & she didn't ever bring us our soups we ordered so you need to give us a $6.00 credit off our tab young man. If she's depending on tips to feed herself, she's going to stave because she stinks at her job. The lady behind me got up & got us our coffee refills. Hell your waitress never even asked us if we wanted dessert! When she brought our meals out she gave us our bill! That's not right." LOL He was a little bitty guy but was madder than sin he didn't get his soup or dessert. They were at Frosty Boy when we drove by.
We also informed the cashier that his waitress needs to be retrained or fired. My friend got us both a free dessert to go like either one of us needed it but damn...
