Really lovely new Italian spot, small and well decorated in a modern tavern style. Ordered the citrus & fennel salad half portion which was giant sized even for the half. Arugula was fresh and plentiful pine nuts on it.
The Langostino Lobster Francese Risotto was a little wetter than I'd expect for a risotto, a bit soupier in sauce but the flavor was spot on. Very light lobster taste and the langostino itself was not overcooked or rubbery.
The Gemelli Carbonara was closer to a fettuccine alfredo in how the sauce tasted, I'm a traditionalist when it comes to carbonara and for me cream doesn't belong in it. I wanted a more yolky flavor and the panchetta is a little weak in punch if you don't have guanciale which would have been a fattier deeper smoked flavor or I would prefer a bacon or pork belly. I think if they tweaked this it would make the dish great.
The gluten free (made with almond flour) cannoli was exceptional, it's so nice to see option for others to enjoy (they also have gluten free pasta I'm told). The chocolate was a nice rich deep dark chocolate flavor which paired nicely with the sweet of the filling inside the crisp shell. I would like more of the fruit spread than the two tiny dots, however artfully it looked, as that tartness was a nice contrast to the sweet.
The server was so nice and authentically sweet and was more than willing to answer any questions I had, excellent service! If I had to say absolutely change one thing... please get rid of the Frank Sinatra sings all the hits radio station. It's a little too kitschy for a nice restaurant. Pipe in some light jazz or something so people can enjoy a date or...
Read moreTony’s Trattoria, is now the go-to Italian cuisine option downriver. Hands down! The food is so flavorful and refreshing. Whatever you do, you have to try the Arancini, Antipasto Salad (so fresh tasting), and the bread service is to die for!! I just ate dinner there for the first time last night, and I am already craving it again today! I can’t wait to go back and get the bread service again and to try more of their dishes! Not only is the food amazing, and some of the best Italian food I have ever had, the atmosphere is so inviting as well. If you are looking for a nice place to go on a date, this is the place to go! It has romantic dimmed lighting and Sinatra playing in the background! Do yourself a favor and try Tony’s Trattoria, you won’t regret it. Although, it isn’t so fancy that you can’t have a family dinner there with the kids either! Great place for all occasions, and/or just a great place for dinner and drinks. Buu be warned, before you even walk out the door, you’ll be craving the homemade Focaccia bread that is served with Whipped Goat Cheese with Basil, Honey sauce, and extra virgin olive oil with herbs and spices, again! No lie. I’ll bet my last dollar on that! That bread is so soft on the inside, filled with garlic cloves, and butter, while having an amazing crust on the outside. I will be going back again this weekend to...
Read moreMy wife and a friend stopped in to check out Tony's Trattoria. The place is much brighter than it was with the previous owner and has been spruced up with some new booths and seating areas. The menu is laid out very much like Ottava Via in Detroit with many of the same offerings and prices. My wife had the polpette (meatballs) and Broccolini. The meatballs were very good and sitting in a red sauce (salsa). The broccolini was charred nicely with spicy chili oil and was very tasty. Our friend had the Wild Mushroom Risotto. I was not a very big fan of the risotto as it was way, way over cooked and was almost a mush. I had the Cacio E Pepe, but wasn't a big fan. It was more like buttered noodles rather than a Cacio E Pepe. We also had the bread service which was very good. The bread was served with oil and herbs, honey and whipped goat cheese. When looking through the menu, I thought it was strange that they didn't have any pizza when they have that awesome pizza oven in the kitchen. Well after we ordered, we noticed the pizza menu is in the wine list. I thought that was a little odd and it might be a good thing to have the staff notify the customers of its placement. For a newly opened restaurant, it was...
