I called ahead to see if there was a wait. The owners son answered and said they were running a 30 min ticket time. No problem. I ordered and said I would come pick it up. I stopped at Tom Thumb and picked up a few groceries then went inside. The owners son confirmed my order, I paid, they said they were working on it and it should be right over and said I could take a seat. So my kids and I sit down. An additional 20 minutes go by! I ask about the food, am told again they are working on it. Okay, longer than usual but fine. Another 10 minuets (now an hour past my order time) and my husband goes to check on the food. We are in the service industry so we understand things happen, but its all about how you recover. The owners son now says he "resold our food because we werent here." Im sorry, what?! I literally checked multiple times, so was that a lie. At this point he says they are remaking it. My husband asks to speak with the manager to see if we can escalate a bit and get clarity. We are told "im the owners son, you can talk to me." Now the owner (who is cooking) asks his son for the name, his son gives it and guess what?! Our ticket still isnt being remade. So at this point our kids are starving, we are starving, we are just going to give up. We get a refund and leave. Not once did they apologize and they certainly didnt take any of the opportunities they were given to just make the food. This is unfortunate as we wanted to become regulars here having just moved to the area recently. Guess they have all the...
Read moreFirst off the food here is amazing. The food here is inexpensive. And, this is a fast-food restaurant where you order at the cash register and pick it up, or they bring it to the table. My wife and I split a Caesar Salad which was large and fresh and perfectly presented and seasoned. We then had one Risotto Limone with spinach, chicken and cherry tomato added. It had such wonderful flavor. I would have paid twice the price at a fancy sit-down restaurant. The other main course was Parppadelle pasta with roasted pepper sauce, roasted pepper, asparagus and meatballs. Again, an excellent flavor profile. The pasta was perfectly cooked and the sauce and veggies expertly prepared. My one criticism of Pastaza is that they could make some effort as far as decor. Perhaps some posters of Italy or some color on the walls, or local art … something. It felt like eating in an unfinished basement, drab and lacking any color at all. I know the owners are keeping prices low and maintaining a simple operation, but something needs to be done to make the space just the least bit warm and inviting. The décor is currently zero out of 10. Perhaps spend a little to get up to at least a 3 or...
Read moreGreat Italian bites made fresh and fast. I ordered the margherita pizza as is, and it was so tasty. The Cesar Salad dressing is made in house. You can taste the anchovy in the dressing. Not in a bad way as far as I was concerned. Just clear this wasn't store bought dressing.
The pizza crust is more on the crispy side, so you won't get that NY Style flop when you lift a slice. The flavor of the sauce and the quality of the mozzarella was just perfect. EVOO and Parmesan drizzled on top of it. Also ordered the spaghetti with meatballs. Portion wasn't giant, which was great. There were two meatballs the size of tennis balls. The dish was served with a thick slice of homemade bread. The food was easily fine dining Italian quality but in a much more casual local. It seems to be family operated, and the staff was super friendly and helpful. I'm excited to have this within 10 min of me so I can try more...
