Tapatio — Restaurant in Troutdale

Jeffrey Molloy and I order this food while in Gresham from Uber Eats. The food showed up 10 minutes later than what it was supposed to through no fault of the Uber driver but because the food was not ready when the driver arrived. When we finally did get our food, if that’s what you could call it, I was very disappointed. I ordered a fajita salad. The container it was in was broken on the bottom and the amount of grease that was coming out of it was nauseating. I’m not sure how you could classify that as a salad since there was no lettuce. The cooked veggies were so over done and the chicken was burnt and dry. I didn’t even eat a bite of it. Jeff’s tacos had very little meat and veggies on them so they were mostly shell. The beans were so watery that he could barely pick them up with a spoon. We ordered my son a quesadilla which was so greasy and soggy which made him sick when he tried to eat it.

The food was expensive and since it was not edable we decided to call and ask for a refund of our money. We were given the run around and were spoken to very rude. They were getting ready to close and you could tell that they were trying to do whatever they could to brush us off so they could go home. Jeff asked to speak with the manager or owner since the gentleman on the phone was of no help. We were told that they would not be in until the next day and he would have them call us back. Jeff left a poor review on google and I left one on Uber Ears with pictures of our food and amazingly enough we got a call back from the manager/owner right away. Their excuses was “we are humans and humans make mistakes” We were offered free food but we declined since it was already 10pm at night and we had already had to grab whatever we could from the hotel vending machine to feed my son and put him to bed.

The owner has responded to Jeffrey’s review and has put it on us that we were unable to resolve this issue because we did not want any food from them. They had said they would refund our money. Almost a week has gone by and we still have not received a refund. Not only do you not serve quality food but you are dishonest. You have been reported to Uber Eats and the BBB.

We LOVED this restaurant- it was our first visit there. The service was fantastic, everyone was so kind, courteous, and attentive. The food was absolutely delicious, including the best tamale I've ever had, and their portions are quite generous. We happened to be there during someone's birthday dinner; the staff all came out with a sombrero and a candlelit dessert. They sang Happy Birthday and encouraged diners to join in. It was great, it just added to the feel of the place. The only reason I'm giving this restaurant less than 5 stars is that we both got very sick to our stomachs late that night and all day the next day. We’ve been to this restaurant for years. Frequented it regularly pre-Covid and ordered to go during the height of the pandemic. First time back since every where opened up to the public w/o mask requirements. The food was amazing, fastest I’ve ever received fajitas at any restaurant. It was a great ratio of protein to peppers and onions; and nothing on the platter was over cooked. Chips were fresh, hot and not greasy, salsa had a great spicy kick with fresh ingredients and their beans are always very smooth and flavorful. The staff was pleasant, attentive and friendly.
