Terrible Vegetable Pad Thai - Tasted Nothing Like the Real Thing

I recently ordered the vegetable pad Thai from this restaurant, and I have to say, it was an absolute disappointment. The dish arrived a strange reddish color, nothing like the vibrant, fresh flavors I was expecting from a proper pad Thai.

Instead of the delicate balance of sweet, sour, and savory that defines authentic pad Thai, this dish tasted like they had simply poured a jar of pre-made pad Thai sauce over some overcooked noodles and vegetables. There was no depth of flavor, no complexity - just a one-note, overpowering sauce that completely overwhelmed the other ingredients.

The noodles were mushy and clumped together, and the vegetables were limp and flavorless. It was clear they had not put any care or attention into preparing this dish from scratch. It seemed as if they had simply grabbed a bottle of store-bought pad Thai sauce and thrown it together without any regard for proper technique or seasoning.

I'm extremely disappointed, I got a poor imitation that tasted nothing like the real thing. I won't be ordering from this establishment again, and I would caution anyone else against trying their pad Thai. Save your money and your tastebuds, and find a more authentic Thai restaurant...

We have been coming here for takeout for YEARS. We decided to go dine in with some friends later in the evening. We arrived at 9:45, online and the door stated they close at 11 and we didn’t want a ton of food. I am greeted and told they close at 10:30, I asked if it was okay and they said yes. They ran over to take our drink order and they keep going to the next person without the previous one finishing their order. They seem angry and annoyed so I asked, would you like us to take this to go or leave so you can close? She raised her voice and began yelling something I could not really understand. She pushed us to still order so we did. The food came out, one of the rolls had a hair on it. Immediately after all the staff put their jackets on and watched us eat. It was very uncomfortable and disappointing because I usually love their sushi and it is fairly priced. The woman was extremely rude and they pulled my plate away before I was even done packing it up. They could’ve kindly told us they were closing for the night or they were only taking to go orders. Now they lost a...

I don’t think anyone would disagree that Mici’s is a cut above standard Chinese take out. Everything we’ve had is good or great. We’re never disappointed. I could eat the Chicken Lo Mein for lunch AND dinner. (Ok I confess I have.). The chicken in most of their dishes is velveted so it’s super tender & flavorful. The Sweet & Sour Chicken is this same tender chicken in a very crispy light batter - so good! I love the Sesame Cold Noodles and always ask for extra peanut sauce. It’s so good that I eat it very slowly to savor the flavor. And it’s not overly spicy.

Their sushi is always fresh. And they have a wide choice of sushi rolls and hand rolls.

The Shrimp Fried Rice and Seafood Fried Rice are perfect. (Sometimes I throw some of the rice in a pan at home to get some crispy bits!)

Mici’s is also very accommodating and regularly makes me Pork Egg Foo Young (not on the menu) with no problem and it’s great! My husband & I think you’ll really like Mici’s Asian Bistro in Trumbull. (PS they are pretty fast on takeout orders. Reasonable prices. Plenty of parking....

Updated on 4-10-24 Decided to give this place another try….An even worse experience! I ordered chicken and broccoli and my husband, pad Thai. I can’t even begin to describe how awful these two dishes were. The color wasn’t even right. There was something sweet in the pad Thai and the chicken and broccoli Tasted awful. Never had anything like this in my life. The dumplings tasted like it was filled with a meatball. I’ve never tasted a dumpling like that before my life. I would never ever return here again. Oh, and it was empty again. Less than average sushi in Trumbull. My husband is complaining about his stomach hurting immediately after consuming the sushi. The tempura rolls were very average and lacked a lot of flavor. Even the gyoza had no flavor in the sauce. Probably would not return. We really like Wild Rice in Fairfield, but that is a bit more of a trek. Also, while I know they were busy, the staff at this restaurant was very rude and the inside was empty. Never a good sign when your business relies solely on takeout.

This is our local favorite restaurant in the Trumbull area. We visit usually every Friday night for either a Chinese or Japanese meal depending on the feeling. The restaurant is locatedinthe Long Hill section of Trumbull in a newly renovated building. Upon entry you are greeted by the hostess and the always happy sushi chefs. There are 5 seats at the sushi bar if you choose to watch your meal being prepared or there or numerous tables and booths. Therr is a bar located as well with seating for 6 and includes a TV for those wanting to watch your sports game. Our goto for appetizers is the sushi pizza. If you enjoy sushi this is a must try you will be a believer. If sushi is your choice the rolls are professionally prepared and the presentation is as good as the rolls taste. On a cold night I would suggest the hot and sour soup, tastefully seasoned and not overly salty. Next time you are looking for a good meal with excellent service stop by for a drink and sampling of their Asian fusion cuisine.
