First impression walking in was the heavy smoke smell. I thought they were smoking ribs or brisket but apparently it was just from the pizza oven prominently displayed in the restaurant. While I cannot speak about the beer or any other food since we didn’t have any, I wouldn’t recommend this place at all for their pizza. We settled on ordering a Margherita as my girlfriend is Vegetarian and we didn’t want to adjust the toppings on any of the menu items, and preferred to try the red sauce over the pesto. Extreme disappointment is the only term I could use when it was delivered to the table. I’m including a photo of how the pizza looks on the menu vs. what we got. The dough was incredibly thin and crunchy. It can simply be described as eating water crackers topped with sauce and cheese. I thought my girlfriend read about them using San Marzano tomatoes but after trying the heavily cooked and herbed sauce I realize it must have been a different restaurant that she told me about. We each ate a slice and couldn’t bear to eat any more. When our server, Jackie, came over and asked how everything was I told her I thought it was horrible. She responded kindly, asking what she could do to fix things. When I questioned her about the pizza dough, if it was fresh and hand tossed she told me they put it under a press in back. I was reluctant to order anything else but agreed to give the flatbread a try when she assured me it wasn’t pressed and the pesto was very good and prepared in house. In a way, the Vegetarian Flatbread Pizza almost saved the day because I didn’t want to spend $30 and walk away hungry. The pesto was very good. Downsides were the cook on it was over and it was still way to thin. I’m not certain about the cause of the issues as it could be a number of reasons. Dough mixture, oven temp, cook time? Combination of elements? My advice if they get can’t seem to get it right would be to either 86 it from the menu and switch the name to Firetruck Brewing like the others, or provide extra training to the cook. $27 is a big ask for such a lousy product. Zero stars for the pizza, two stars...
Read moreThis is our second trip to Firetruck Pizza. The first visit, the food was pretty underwhelming, but they had just opened, so we wanted to give them another try.
The good news is that the food is much improved. The pizza was good (not great) and the smoked wings were better than I thought they would be.
The bad news is that the service is not good. The waitress told up up front that she was new to the location, but not new to waitressing. Could have fooled me. She looked at our military ID, rang up our order 1 minute later, and STILL managed to forget to apply the discount.
While we waited for our order, we asked if someone could change the tv channel at the bar. Turns out that nobody working knows how to change the channel. Really??!!
After 20 minutes, I asked about our order. It turns out that it had been done, and waiting on a shelf for us, but lack of communication meant it was cold by the time we finally got it.
Also, the two beer was lukewarm and super foamy.
I might get takeout, but wouldn’t eat inside the...
Read moreIt was 5 minutes till closing and we just wanted a couple of drinks and some meatballs. Nalania told us to come on in and she gladly stayed opened for us! She was not only inviting but engaged us w/ fun conversation…along with another patron that came in a couple of minutes after us! We all chatted and got to know one another! She even shared her cheesy bread that the cook made for her! We made and shared local connections. Nalania and staff were very accommodating. We just moved into the neighborhood and had been there once before and also had a great experience. I would definitely recommend Firetruck Pizza Company not only for the food but also because of their amazing service and also to support...
