wow. i just had the worst customer service from the Oracle Rd Magpies. my 80 year old mother in law printed out a menu for us to order from because we are on spring break visiting. we looked online at the menu and also used her printed out version. the menu has all 3 Magpies locations listed at the top. we ordered our pizzas (and wings) early for a group to be delivered at a specific time. they were one hour late. 2 of the pizzas must have been carried sideways, because they were so smashed against the sides of the box that they had to be reconstructed, which wasn’t easy because they had cooled like that. and one of our pizzas was completely wrong. well, that was the only pizza that my daughter and i wanted to eat. so i called to ask for the correct pizza to be delivered. instead, he only wanted to give a refund. i said, okay, but what are we supposed to eat then. he replied with “the other 2 pizzas”. what?! then he got sassy with me, so i hung up. called back and talked to the manager who took the employees side, saying that we ordered from the wrong menu. well if our pizza order was from their stated correct menu, it still was wrong because they didn’t add the topping that we requested. anyway, he defended the employee, refused to fix the problem to our satisfaction and blamed me, the customer, at which point i had some strong words to share. end story, he decided that we will never order pizza from them again. all because i requested my correct order. this is how kids in charge run businesses these days. this manager has a lot to learn before he can move up the food chain. haha. best of...
Read moreWhat the heck happened? We ordered an extra large Canadian bacon/mushroom pizza, cheese sticks, and a large sprite, plus a large garden salad. When we got it home and opened the box the first thing we noticed was the pizza looked small. Definitely not an extra large. Secondly, the pizza was all bubbled by the crust and burnt. Not a little, a lot. Each slice was so dark that you could not see the Canadian bacon or mushrooms. We could not eat the crust at all and each slice was unbelievably hard to chew. The cheese sticks were not burnt, but again, hard to chew. We threw them away. We ended up throwing most of the pizza away. I hate wasting food, but we want to keep our teeth. We have eaten at Magpies many, many times. It saddens us that our go to gourmet pizza place is now not an option for us, especially during these hard times when we are counting on take home food because of Covid. We cannot afford 30 plus dollars to be...
Read moreIt's an update to a previous review I wrote about the place. I was pissed off then because the prices communicated online didn't match the tab I had to pay for 2 home-delivered pizzas. This was a case of outdated information. They tried to make it up afterwards, and I commend them for that.
The update became necessary because I have eaten at this pizza parlor several times since, and I have to say it's one of the really good pizza places I know in town. I eat gluten-free, and Magpies is one of the two local pizzerias I know which serve gluten-free pizzas. The other one is The Heist which, in my opinion, does not offer the same quality (though not bad at all).
Bottom line, I really like Magpies pizzas and eating at the restaurant or take-out don't cost half as much as getting home delivery. So I enjoy my gluten-free pizza there, instead of having it home delivered. I recommend the place without any...
