update: 2022
having recently retired the place staff was VERY accommodating. we needed some drinks brought to us for particular reasons we couldn't take them. the staff did this with no complaints. the liquor was decent, food was reasonably priced. the theaters were well spaced well seated. my only complaint is the men's restroom is literally freezing cold. (in the 40's/50's) the vents in the men's bathroom are shared w the kitchen and not individually controlled. so it's either the restroom freezes or the kitchen is a oven. I couldn't stay in there with out starting to shiver. other wise a great experience.
orginal: 2020 there are alot of issues and I'll try and be as specific as I can in the hope they see this and address them.
I called and asked if they served food at the seats because I noticed they had tables. but no menu of food showed anywhere and I was baffled on what type of menu it would be.
website to buy tickets was a bit cumbersome. they need to hire a UI dev to fix that.
when I showed up to get the tickets the machine wouldnt give them to me. (I went to the counter) -1 clunky systems
after getting the tickets I asked if we a server would take our order before the show started as the line to the counter was very very long.
was told no they didnt serve food or take order the table was for what we bought at the counter. -1 missinformation
I waited in line about 30 minutes, the line never shrunk it progressed at a snail's pace and we were half way through. took about 5 minutes per person. the movie just start now and I'm in the middle of the line. its Christmas eve, one of the staple holiday rush times. they have about 15 people behind the counter, they dont realy seem to be rushing. I leave the line and ask for a refund. -3 bad customer service.
if I could give 0 stars I would the only thing luxurious about this place is the name. no idea what the seating looks like cause I never got that far.
your better off going to AMC or harkins. at least there you dont waste time in a fully staffed line and miss your movie. I think this is litteraly the only time in my life that has happened.
I will no be returning here. they could take some pointers and hire servers like road house. this place was the worst experience in a movie theater I...
Read moreWorst experience EVER in 37 years of going to the movies. My family and I purchased tickets online a week prior to Jurassic Park playing today. We have tickets for the back row seats N10-N13. We get into theater 5 and realize that our seats are already occupied. We see four empty seats in the row and just figured that this other family took our seats so we decided to just sit in the empty seats that were most likely theirs. The movie starts and a family comes in and shows us their tickets to the seats we are sitting in. Of course we get up and give the seats to the family that has tickets to the seats we are sitting in. I then proceed to show our seat tickets to the “very rude and old family” that is sitting in OUR N10-N13 seats and they just basically ignore me. I showed them our tickets and asked to see their tickets and they just kept munching on their concessions ignoring me. We would’ve stayed for the movie if other seats were available, but the only seats available were in the front row. Ultimately we left the theater and proceeded to the front desk kiosk to ask for a refund since WE PAID for seats that another family is occupying. I AT LEAST expected the manager to take initiative to ask the family to move from our paid for seats, but I figured that would disrupt the movie for other people in the theater. We were reimbursed our tickets but not online convenience fee. It is what it is. We did however receive two free movie passes but I still don’t think that is enough. I feel like the family that was sitting in the seats we paid for should’ve been either moved to other seats in the theater or kicked out for not moving from their seats. I am just in disbelief that this old and fat family would not move and would not show their tickets to us. I hope they come across this and realize that they ruined the movie that my two boys and wife were excited to see. My boys left the theater crying. Also, we spent $70 on concessions that we took home. Next time I’ll go to Park Mall or El...
Read moreWe went to see Avatar: Way of the Water. It is an amazing movie! But I have something else to rave about.
We went to see it at a Galaxy Theaters and this is what made the movie REALLY special.
All Galaxy Theaters use laser projectors. This means it is always crisp, bright and in focus. For 3D movies this also means the polarization is always perfect, you will never see ghosting around the 3d or the 3D looking off.
The movie was also running at 60+FPS per eye (120+ FPS total) so you don't get much vertigo with the 3D.
So combine all of this with a movie like Avatar that is designed from the ground up to be 3d and you got something truly special.
There were times while looking at the movie that it looked so smooth and rich that I could hold up my hand and the movie looked more crisp than my own hand before my eyes. I'm not exaggerating. The effect was so astounding it took my brain about a half hour to get used to it. The effect was like seeing your first high frame rate 4k or 8k video and it just looks amazing but off. Then when your brain adapts it just becomes amazing.
Go see Avatar and if you can see it in 3D DFX HFR in a theater with laser projectors like Galaxy.
Oh and Galaxy has HUGE power seats (that can fit a big person like me) with recline, footrest and an adjustable power headrest and very wide aisles.
Do you know why the aisles are so wide? If you order any food more complicated than popcorn an usher will bring it out to your seat and a table slides in over you lap from the seat. So nachos, and pretzels along with stuff such as pizza, pretzels, chicken tenders, mozzarella sticks, french fries, loaded fries, Icees, ice cream, and White Castle sliders all delivered to your seat when they are ready. No waiting.
They also sell beer, wine and mixed drinks at most locations. In AZ we also exclusively have salsa and churros as well. I will be seeing all my future movies here. It was worth the extra...
