The ABSOLUTE BEST! A benchmark for Tulsa barbecue!! I'm definitely kicking myself for living in Tulsa area for decades and not trying this place until now! We came here for the first time last week and have returned to eat again today and they did not disappoint!
It was a five-star experience on every level but here are the highs, for me:
**THE FOOD: Ummm...flippin delicious!! I ordered a half-dozen smoked wings, coleslaw and a single rib. I can't say enough about the wings! That first bite is heavenly! Crisp skin on the outside and juicy on the inside. The coleslaw is mayo-based and on the runny side - and it's done really well. It is slightly sweet, just like good coleslaw should be. The rib meat came off the bone clean and had beautiful bark and smoke ring. The bite of mac and cheese my niece shared with me was surprisingly good and I would consider it a solid side choice for my next trip. **SERVICE: Super duper friendly, fast and accurate! You order and pay at the counter and they bring it to your table (what do you call that? Fast casual? Demi-service? Idk...) Payton was our order taker and brought our food out. He was fun and friendly but didn't intrude on our meal. He made our visit a very positive, memorable one! **ATMOSPHERE: The Harvard location is nestled in a converted gas station that you might otherwise just drive right past if you're not looking for it. On the inside it is tastefully decorated with vintage gas station decor and plenty of wood trim. Comfy, casual, cozy.
All in all, Albert G's (Harvard) has earned a spot on my list of go-to Tulsa restaurants. A great place to take out-of-towners! And they are open on sunday's, which is rare for good barbecue places in this town.
Important note: This applies only to the Harvard location. I have been to the downtown location but will NOT return. Ever. Night and day difference and I'll leave it at...
Read moreAfter placing a phone order to go. I picked up the order & paid for this dinner for 3. Upon inspection a side order was missing. We called to make them aware of the issue. I arrived to get what we paid for & spoke with the person in charge. He offered me a refund & gave me the side order. I explained that I was unhappy that this is not an unusual occurrence as this has happened to us several times over the years. I was disappointed that having to drive back over to the restaurant to get what I paid for initially did not seem to be a big deal to the person in charge. I told him that I suggested better training might be helpful for his staff. I am an unhappy customer. Advice to All, check the order to see if it is all there before you leave.
Update 4/26/25: This is the same complaint as above, an online order was placed. Upon arrival at this restaurant the order was paid for. While waiting to get the order (it was not quite ready) I was handed the sack of food. I went to the extra dining room in the restaurant to check my order. It appeared as the 3 dinners ordered were there. I then drove back to the house. Upon unloading the sacked dinners, there were additional items were determined to be missing. We called the restaurant to let them know the problem. My advice is if you go here to eat in you are probably good. If not, stop the counter person & make sure that they read the ticket & verify that you get everything that you paid for. This is the problem for businesses that employ help that get by with poor customer service. I will not be recommending this restaurant ever again. They really don’t care about taking care of their customers. Avoid using this place on...
Read moreEven after you complain about your order being wrong, when they give another one it's most likely wrong too. Trying to call about another mess up and they aren't answering their phones 20 minutes before closing. Will try to get things resolved hopefully tomorrow, but doubt it based on their track record with me. Been there twice and both times they don't give me what I ask for, pay for or what's even on the receipt. Follow up: I called next morning and asked for a manager and the manager said they are too busy to help a customer that's been getting ripped off by his business. I guess he's got other potential suckers he wants to rip off at his business at the moment. He offered nothing in return and didn't fix my order again. I've been here twice and both times have been ripped off. Their food is so dry because they warm everything up in a microwave. Brisket isn't supposed to be dark black with a funny odor. Albert g's should always be a last choice when it comes to dining. Village Inn is across the street and their food is cooked fresh when ordered and they strive to make customers happy. Village Inn has great prices unlike Albert G's. Village Inn has weekday specials as well as all you can eat fish and chips on Fridays. Village Inn is where I will always go instead of the terrible environment Albert G's tries to pass as a reputable business. Albert G's should be investigated by the city after reading these reviews and possibly have any ability for their owners and business to operate...
