My husband & I went on a Monday evening around 6:30. It was busier than I expected but still seated in a timely fashion. We had decided on the pierogis as an appetizer fairly quickly, so we got the order in for that. Upon ordering our entrees I was told they were out of the short rib which is what I had planned on getting, so I had to change my mind last minute and we opted for the chicken sandwich with fries, side of mac n cheese, and the sausage & mushroom flatbread. We were going to share the options for both of our meals.
We waited... And waited... And waited... Finally the appetizer comes which was very delicious but the enjoyment was short lived as we continued to wait at least a half an hour for the rest of our food to come. When it did arrive, we were much underwhelmed at the Mac n cheese. Boasting fried Jalapeño and chorizo, it promised to be an array of deliciousness in our mouths, yet it fell very flat. Lacking salt, watery cheese, and no chorizo in sight. The waitress was actually kind enough to take the Mac n cheese back & off our bill to make up for our disappointment. The chicken sandwich was alright.. Downsides were the pickles were soggy, there was no honey mustard as the menu states, and I also didn't get the side of ranch I ordered for the fries. We later asked for more ranch, which we still never got. My husband personally did not like the flavor of the sandwich and like I said, to me it was just alright. The saving grace of the meal was the appetizer and the flatbread, which was much larger than expected. It had a nice crust on the bottom, pleasant balance of flavors, and a good cheese pull. It did end up losing its heat fairly quickly which dampened the experience.
The atmosphere felt like a staged area of Target. Very minimal and modern, but with a generic feel that left eyes to wander empty walls and listen to the loud echo of conversations in the room.
It was also a surprise to see a $4 up charge for "sharing" the chicken sandwich, yet we were sharing all aspects of our meal willingly and did not ask for it to be served a specific way. Being charged 25% extra for cutting a sandwich in half was mind boggling.
So overall, while the service was personable, the experience as a whole was a let down. This is a restaurant we've wanted to try for quite some time and were very dismayed to have left feeling depleted. For the portion size, the price, and the blah environment, we personally won't...
Read moreWe found Bird & Bottle on a Google search and decided to try it out while visiting Tulsa. We had a group of 5 and when calling ahead the host was super nice and said he could hold a table for us while we traveled from our hotel. The place is great - a chill vibe with a busy bar and another quieter room with more tables. Our waitress was very attentive and filled us in with kid friendly options since there is no designated kid's menu. She didn't really know what all would be included with the "kid's burger", if there would be 2 or just 1. How many chicken tenders would come with the kid's chicken. She did say the flatbread would feed all 3. We ended up ordering all 3 because picky eaters. She offered (we did not ask) to try to work something out where it would be less of a price. It was all a bit confusing because we really didn't know what we were going to be getting food wise until it all came out. When it came out, there was a single slider-sized burger on a little plate, 3 chicken tenders on another, and a big flatbread. The kids enjoyed all of it. Unfortunately when we got the bill, we were charged $10 for each kid's meal! That means $10 for a slider burger, that did not include a side. It didn't even come with the lettuce and tomato we asked for. $10 for 3 pieces of chicken, again, no side. $10 for the flatbread. Stick with the flatbread if you're bringing kids to eat. It was the best deal. Overall, our goat cheese salad and 2 appetizers (pirogies and mushrooms) were good. The cocktails were delish! Unfortunately we won't be coming back until they can figure out a kid-friendly menu that has set prices and portions. Over $100 for 1 salad, 2 appetizers, 2 cocktails, and 3 kid's meals is...
Read moreWaited years to try this place, and sadly we aren't sure if we will go back.
Atmosphere: 3 stars instead of 5 because of where we sat. It's a cute restaurant, but our friend's made a reservation a week in advance and we somehow got the worst seat in the house in my opinion. The table right next to the kitchen door, that was constantly swinging open. There were about 3 empty tables in the room we were in, with one being a table right next to us (not right next to the kitchen) that was empty the entire time we were there.
Service: 4 stars instead of 5 because it started out rocky. Our friend's arrived early, not sure how long it took them to get their drinks. My fiancé and I waited over 10min for someone to even acknowledge us. I jokingly raised my hand asking my friends if that's how you get a drink in this place and caught the eye of Jacob who came and took our drink and appetizer order. Jacob continued to check on us throughout the evening. I feel like he should've received the tip we left our server, or atleast part of it. Our server was more attentive after Jacob initially assisted us.
Food: 4 stars instead of 5 because of the chicken. We all shared the spinach and artichoke dip. It was okay, the bread was the best part. I ordered the beet salad and crabcakes for my meal. They were delicious. Some of the best crabcakes I have tried. However, my fiancé and friend's each ordered the brick chicken and no one was a fan. The sauce was more of a gravy, and the chicken was tough and hard to remove from the bone. The drinks were yummy and strong.
Overall, for the price it wasn't...
