Food is always delicious and tasty. Haven't tried anything I have not liked. The service is great. There was a black woman that seemed to have a problem with the service. I was sitting at a table next to her and her partner and saw and heard everything that went on. The woman went up to the counter and was very accusatory about not being waited on in a timely manner and even felt it was because she was black. I watched the staff get the couple seated. They had drinks in front of them and menus. The original waiter that seated them had to take a call behind the counter, so the other waiter went to the couple and asked if they were ready to order. Then the seated woman went to the counter and accused the first waiter of treating her differently because she was black. Then she asked where the restroom was and he politely showed her. There just ain't no way lady! This all happened in a 10 minute window. It was like she had a chip on her shoulder. Both waiters apologized for the misunderstanding and asked what they could do? The first waiter explained he had sat them down, but had to take a call. Hello? Had nothing to do with race. The women left the restaurant, leaving her nice husband to explain. You could tell he was uncomfortable with her behavior. Again the waiters offered several solutions and asked if they wanted to order take out instead, but the man left as well. People need to stop the paranoid behavior. We are all Americans. There is no such thing as African American unless you are born there. I am Irish. I don't claim to be Irish. I am an American. The drama and manipulative behavior needs to stay home. That couple missed out in a great meal. Watching the staff cater and bend over backwards for some preconceived idea of an unsatisfied customer was over the top. People just need to be normal. This restaurant is a great place to eat no matter what color you are and you will get good service and would recommend to all my black friends and black family...
Read moreWhat a delightful little restaurant. So seldom do you enter a place where you instantly feel welcome. We were greeted so warmly. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The restaurant was clean and dressed for guests. It lookes like a very fancy little bistro. I loved the tri-footed crystal tea cups. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the cabbage rolls. They were the best we had ever tasted and we know cabbage rolls. We were told they were made from scratch with love. DELICIOUS! We enjoyed humus and tabouli as well as trying a small trio of fresh salads. We were so full but had to have an entree. I ordered walnut stew my hubby tried Zereshk Polo, which I nearly stole from him. It was such an incredible experience of flavors. I'm definitely ordering that when I go back. The Walnut Stew was hardy on a cold day and so tasty too! More savory than my husband's dish which had a touch of sweetness. The chicken in both was fork tender and the sauce in my stew had a warm nutty flavor, savory and delicious. We were told many of the spices are imported so you get that authentic Mediterranean flavor. I love food that transports your soul and lifts your spirits. We ordered a cup of warm tea that turned into two pots by the time we left. I don't know the brand or how they steep it but it was the perfect compliment to our meal. The kind of tea that the deliciousness stays with your tongue for a moment more after you swallow and it is delightful. My hubby and I are foodies and this one is going on our regular rotation. Do yourself a favor and give Saffron a try. You won't be disappointed. You will find yourself transported to the Mediterranean in the most tasty and delightful way. Read moreUpdate Table service. Food served on ceramic tableware. Comfortable upscale feel. Friendly attentive waitstaff. Fantastic lunch specials. Bargain priced. Most importantly the food is excellent. Flavors abundant; zesty Persian house dressing, garden fresh greens and vegetables, tangy tzatziki, spicy crispy crunchy falafels, meaty flame broiled kabab koobideh, delicate fluffy saffron rice. Five stars on my plate.
Yeah, I can go 5 stars on this one……. The restaurant does appear to be clean and well run. The interior is a little bit of a surprise in comparison to the outside. Very nice, clean, comfortable, decorative restaurant. There is a lot of variation in Mediterranean cuisine. I like hummus that leaves me with garlic breath for two hours after I eat it. Theirs is very mild but fresh with good flavors from the chickpeas and tahini. They add a spice blend sprinkle and a little olive oil for a very smooth tasty dip. I really liked the toasted pita for dipping. We had the Koobideh Kabob and a Falafel Wrap. The Koobideh Kabob is two generous skewers of chargrilled ground beef on rice with a fire roasted tomato and a salad. Everything was delicious, even the rice. The Falafel Wrap came with a fresh salad. My wife said the falafels in the wrap were well seasoned. Very good Service. Nice place, that I have added to my list of preferred Middle Eastern/Mediterranean...
