This Golden Corral seemed about like every other Golden Corral I've been in. Consistency is good.
Miguel was our server, and he was exceptional! I'd give him ten stars out of five if I could. It took a little while for him to get to us after we had our plates, but once he made contact with us, he checked on us consistently about every five or so minutes. He got the barbecue sauce for my cousin because he couldn't find it on the food bar, and was even very sweet with my mom who asked for a cup of water to wash her fingers in while she was eating wings. He had a wonderful smile, that fit well with his pleasing personality. I would say that he's a great asset to this restaurant.
The food bar was generally clean, and there wasn't a lot of splatters on the screen. And like normal, there were several people behind keeping everything tidied up and filled.
I helped my mom to the bathroom before we left since we had about a two hour drive home. This bathroom was much cleaner than other Golden Corral bathrooms I've been in. There were no paper towels on the floor around the trash can, there wasn't water and soap splattered all over the mirror and sink, and I saw no unflushed toilets . (I always check these things now that I do regular reviews.) One thing I love about Golden Corral bathrooms is that they have the handle on the door that you can open with your forearm to leave. You know there's always those people who still don't wash their hands and they grab that door handle with their dirty hands. Thanks for doing that! That was a smart idea.
Now I'm sure you want to know about the food... I've never had their wings, so I tried one small wing from each one. They were delicious! The ones that are hot truly are hot, so eat them with caution! I always get the roast beef because that's one of my very favorite cuts of meat. The last time I ate at Golden Corral in Joplin the roast was actually tough. This roast was not, it fell apart as I picked it up and it was wonderful. I think like most people, I have my staples that I like to eat when I go into a restaurant that I know. At Golden Corral, it's always the roast beef and fried okra. As I stated, the roast beef was wonderful, but the okra was not. There were some pieces in it that looked good, but for the most part it was mushy and falling apart. This day I tried a little bit of mashed potatoes and brown gravy; that was good too. My cousin had gotten some cheesy potatoes that I believe had some green peppers and onions in; they looked good so I hunted them down on the food bar. Oh my goodness, they were delicious! I ate just a little bit of their taco meat with some cheese and onions on it, and that was good. Overall, everything I had tasted pretty decent. I have no complaints. My mom wasn't overly impressed with the food, but she's getting older and crankier about stuff in the process. Everyone else at the table enjoyed their meal. a couple of my cousins raved about their desserts, but I opted to have a roll with some honey butter and didn't make it to the desert bar. The rolls are always wonderful! Well, that is if they are baked until they are golden brown.
The parking lot is clean and there's a lot of parking space. However I noticed there's not a whole lot of handicapped parking. It may be a good idea to put in more handicap spaces closer to the front. We had to park about midway through the parking lot and that's a difficult walk for my elderly parents who could have parked in a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis was my first visit to Golden Corral in several years (since before I began my cancer battle) Although I was a little shocked by the prices (my friend paid over $50 for 2 senior buffets, an adult buffet, three drinks and tax), I was very impressed by the quantity and variety of the food presented. I especially enjoyed the pot roast with vegetables (I did try a bit of the meat despite the taboo of red meat for cancer patients and it was wonderfully tender and delicious), the bourbon chicken, and the delicious sweet potato casserole along with many other delicious vegetable options. I also great enjoyed the blueberry pie (without the crust) I was not a fan of the barbecue pork spare ribs; they were incredibly greasy yet very tender. I would have eaten more than one the one bite sample but I couldn't get past the grease. I also could not eat the very overly fried/baked ravioli; however the accompanying sauce was absolute perfection and I ate it on the baked spaghetti. I was very impressed with the offering of steak (which influenced my score) but disappointed that very few were actually prepared and cook did not even try to keep up with the demand. I felt like those that came specifically for steak were most likely disappointed. I was very disappointed in the lack of attention by the workers. There were at least three workers standing within six to eight feed of me when I dropped my tray while trying to maneuver my cane, tray, other diners and the very narrow edge of the buffet and every one of them completely ignored my plight; my DAUGHTER came and cleaned everything up for me, wiped off my feet and brought me a fresh plate and tray. However, the young lady who constantly cleared our plates and refilled our drinks was amazing. I was also impressed by the variety and quantity of the desserts presented (I personally opted only for the blueberry pie which I felt was a healthier option but nearby children present were delighted with the numerous options. My daughter tried the cotton candy). I was a bit put off by the sight of a young boy (approximately six years old) who was unaccompanied repeatedly sticking his fingers in the chocolate fountain and licking them off IN FRONT OF THE WORKER who couldn't have missed it. This location seems to be somewhat less well laid out and attractive than the other Tulsa location, which I would probably be more inclined to visit...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is usually one of my favorite places to got but we went to the one on 21st St. in Tulsa, Ok. this time my experience was totally different! We got our table main courses were limited, not as fresh as I normally experiance at the Golden Coral by 81st. St. in Tulsa but it was okay then came dessert......WELL that was where for the first time in the 10 years my husband and I have lived in this area I was treated badly at a Golden Coral. My favorite is the fudge, its secretly my whole reason for going. They were out so we asked if they had anymore of course like most of us would. The lady working ignored us so I caught a guy coming out of the kitchen and asked him, he said yes then spoke in Spanish to his coworker in the dessert area. After exchanging a few words I observed him then go to the manager on the floor and ask him then proceed back to the dessert area where he informed his coworker of the decision to give the customer some fudge! Reluctantly and upset with that decision the lady made us wait until she waited on everyone else first while we stood there looking like confused idiots then finally got a pan out cut up a few pieces and put a few brownies in a plate and she was done! What the Hell???? Fudge is Fudge and Brownies are well Brownies.....I was upset royally by this time so I just took a piece or two and left her area. The Brownies were half baked and tasted terrible and there was no way in hell i was going back up there to stand another 15 to 20 minutes to try and explain the situation and of course I didn't see the manager by this time. It was my sons birthday dinner so i didn't want to embarrass him so we just left but i will NEVER EVER go that Golden Coral Buffet again! It's the one on 81st or...
