If you’re on the hunt for truly authentic tamales in Tulsa, look no further than Mary’s Tamales & More. Tucked inside a small converted house on Sheridan Road, this humble spot delivers big on flavor, heart, and tradition. It's the kind of hidden spot that feels like stepping into a home kitchen in South Texas. It's cozy, welcoming, and full of soul. The interior is quaint, with small dining rooms that obviously used to be bedrooms. There’s a real sense of family and care in the atmosphere, from the warm greetings to the lovingly prepared food. I ordered the pozole rojo, a traditional pork and hominy soup with a spicy, tangy kick. It was beautifully seasoned and served with all the fixings like crunchy fried corn tortillas, cabbage, and jalapeños. This dish hit the notes I'm looking for: bold, satisfying, and just the right amount of heat. But the main reason I visited was for tamales. And I just so happened to get the last available tamale of the day. It had a moist, fluffy masa wrapped around a flavorful chicken filling. It tasted homemade in the best possible way, like something passed down through generations. I’ll absolutely be returning to stock up by the dozen. Despite the restaurant’s small size, I was seated right away, and the staff was friendly, attentive, and genuinely warm. The space was clean and felt lovingly maintained. If you value authenticity, family-run charm, and food made from the heart, Mary’s Tamales & More deserves your visit—and your support. 🔁 Would I return? Absolutely—next time with a cooler to take some...

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ If you’re on the hunt for the best tamales, let me tell you, the search ends at Mary’s Tamales! From the moment you step inside, you are greeted by the inviting aroma of freshly steamed tamales that feels like a warm hug from an old friend.

The variety here is impressive, but the true magic lies in the authenticity of each batch. You can genuinely taste the love and tradition in every bite. I had the pleasure of trying their daily specials, and OH MY GOODNESS—each one is better than the last! It's clear that Mary and her team put their heart and soul into crafting these delightful morsels. My personal favorite was the green chili pork; the flavors danced on my palate like a fiesta!

The ambiance is what I would call charmingly cozy. Whether you dine in or take out, you feel a sense of community as locals gather around savoring their meals. The service is both friendly and attentive, making you feel like part of the family.

If you haven't visited Mary’s Tamales yet, do yourself a favor and indulge in their special dishes. You won’t just be getting a meal – you’ll be getting an experience steeped in culture and love. Can’t wait to go back and explore more of their...

Coming to Mary’s Tamales and More transported me straight back to my childhood! They’re from Altamirano and serve guilotas in chile rojo that instantly reminded me of my days in Morelia. My dad used to go hunting for guilotas, and my mom would cook them with that same spicy chile—the kind so hot it makes smoke come out of your nose and you feel like a dragon! Lol It’s not just food, it’s memories on a plate. Delicious, authentic, and full of heart. Thank you for bringing me back home...

To start off my kids destroyed the rice here and to get my kids to eat in general is tough.. the pambazos is a rare thing to find for me but it was worth another visit alone! The nachos my wife said she got full on a 1/3 of the plate and the costillas were delicious made me feel like I ate at a family members house! If you like spice ask for the extra spicy salsa! 🤤

Ms. Mary Lu’s offers a wide variety of authentic foods. We orders 2 dozen tamales, half chicken & half jalapeño & cheese in advance which was convenient and easy, via text. Absolutely loved the both tamales. If you haven’t had these phenomenal tamales, you’re missing out.
