I had the catfish meal and the fish was good. However, there was a huge piece of the cabbage heart which was hard and uneaten. There was more liquid so I received two fork bites of cabbage, ugh! My second side was mac n cheese which was tasty but received a very small portion (something a two year old toddler would get for lunch). I didn't get pictures of my food due to I was wondering and I asked the waitress if this was my order catfish for 21.00. My husband had the shrimp dinner. The blacked shrimp was very flavorful, no season at all on the sweet potato fries and his cabbage tasted good just full of liquid. Our app was spinach dip way to much Carnation milk and not enough cheese is what it tasted like. Our waitress was Daja and she was really nice. The restaurant decor was the same from the old restaurant that was there before. The atmosphere was good everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and there wasn't any bad oders when entering this restaurant.

Our food was so very, very salty. We didn't finish our app (fried pickles) because they were too salty to eat. I gave up on my entree because of the salt. (More on that later.) I had the red snapper, blackened. The portion was woefully small for it's $28 dollar price tag. It too was painfully salty. To the point where I was mixing it with my sides in order to give it a fair shot. I chose squash casserole and Mac and cheese for my sides. Those were fine, and seasoned properly. I ended up giving up on the whole meal once I couldn't take the salt anymore. My wife had the smoked chicken, Mac and and cheese and coleslaw. The chicken was salty, but not to the level of the pickles and fish. She enjoyed the Mac and cheese and coleslaw, but felt like the slaw wasn't worth the $4-if you-bought-it-separate price tag. Overall we were disappointed and won't be back.

OMG how locals aren't swarming to this restaurant is beyond me. We're from Texas and found this restaurant on a road trip and WOW. I had a beef filet and in Texas ee know steak...it was one of the best I've had. Was disappointed they didn't have baked potatoes but it forced me to try mac & cheese & disappointed no more. It was delicious. Asparagus grilled to perfection. Dinner mate had smothered steak & loved it. Squash casserole is so good. Peach cobbler was a bit lacking in juice but very good. Shelby was our server & was attentive & an excellent personable server. If I could give a 10, I would.

Ate here once with my brother and ordered the fish and grits. It was so good! I tried again today and apparently you can only order through DoorDash until the restaurant opens at 4PM no problem. I pulled up DoorDash so I could place my order, and I had a question about an add-on. I wanted to add shrimp to my fish and grits, so my husband called the owner who was sitting at the bar enjoying a meal, and he said there should be an add on option for that, and my husband informed him that there isn’t a button for it. He said give him a few minutes to add it on. Okay fine. We waited, and waited some more until he called saying the option was added. He added it as a SALAD OPTION instead of in the fish and grits tab. I would have had to order a garden salad and then added the shrimp to the salad that means I would’ve had to buy a salad I didn’t even want for $10 not to mention the $7 shrimp option added to the salad that I DID NOT WANT. Then he asked if the shrimp option could be separated from the salad option. SIR THIS IS YOUR JOB TO FIGURE OUT NOT THE CUSTOMER. Then he complained how long it would take to make the necessary adjustments on the doordash app. My husband said he could just come inside and pay for it all, but he said he only would take it through DoorDash because he makes a “little more money” on there. The customer isn’t a thought at this place. I wanted to keep supporting because it’s black owned, but I’ll pass...

Food: Very tasty. Wife and I shared a fried pickle stack. I had the Fish & Grits for my entree and everything was seasoned great. Grits were super creamy, fish flavorful and tender. Wife got the Fried Shrimp Dinner with Macaroni and Cheese and was satisfied. You can tell that they give a damn.

Service: Attentive. We were seated, drink orders were taken, and when the drinks arrived we fired off out appetizer order. Once the appetizer arrived we fired got our entree order in. Layered service and delivery of food. There was never crowding on the table. Drinks were never empty.

Atmosphere: It's a nice little location. Lots of natural light. Easily accessible. Super casual.

The most important thing I noticed is that the owner was on site, actively involved and communicating with the staff, being cordial with customers.

I think this restaurant could pull off a nice New Orleans style red beans and rice dish, some fresh and buttered french bread on the side. Maybe a nice fried chicken wing. And if the restaurant ever does this as a special, I'd hope they reply to this and let me know because I'd...

By far THE worst customer service I’ve ever had. First, we were told the wait would be 25 mins for a party of 7. Turned into a hour and a half. After waiting, we finally had our table and the host had THE WORST attitude and didn’t even walk us to our table. Secondly, after waiting almost two hours, I FINALLY got my food only to find a piece of hair laying on my fish. Called the OWNER over told him the deal and he told me that I was being disrespectful and I needed to calm down. Kept asking how could he fix it and my exact words were, “I just want food without hair in it”. He proceeds to tell me that he will pay for it and all that. I’m not looking for a hand out. This is by far the WORST newly opened restaurant in Tuscaloosa. The cabbage was bland and the drinks were full of margarita mix, hardly no alcohol.

TIP to the owner : Never argue with a PAYING customer. I want looking for a free meal! And btw he never came back with the food… instead, he closed everybody out. I will never visit this...
