I am an out of towner who visits this location often. Edgarâs offers a wide variety of desserts and pastries which taste great! I also canât say enough about the food options where I often buy breakfast and lunch at the same time each time I visit. Edgarâs has options for everyone. Whether you are a regular or someone visiting for the first time, there is something for everyone. The personalized UA cookies are always entertaining to look at as well!
EDIT: 10 December 22 I had a terrible service experience today at Edgarâs Bakery in Tuscaloosa. We went to Edgarâs this morning at about 1030 and ordered a huevos rancheros and breakfast quesadilla. Several small parties ordered after us ,and even after 30 mins of waiting for our food, those parties received their food orders and we were still waiting. Although some of these parties ordered the same two food items before us. When we asked for a refund at 1105, we were told the wait time for the food items was a half hour, which would be understandable at that point in time because a large party placed a large order AFTER our original order. It would not have effected our order since we placed it before the rush. This is also untrue because a customer ordered the huevos rancheros after us, and still received it before we did.
When we asked for the refund, the assistant manager completely refunded the order, however it was the incorrect order. When I caught the error, she refunded only the portion of the order for the food items we didnt receive.
Lastly, when My food was refunded, she did not refund the 1.00 tip that I had added to my order on the front end. Although the 1.00 was nominal, it was still something I only elected to do on the assumption That service would be acceptable.
I will not be coming back to Edgarâs for the foreseeable future. Although the food is great, the service was substandard to the degree where I would consider several other local restaurants before...
Read moreWhewâDr. Green, the cake disappointment is real and valid. Hereâs a draft of your one-star review, written with clarity, emotion, and accountability for Edgarâs Bakery, that still keeps your voice thoughtful and honest (but unapologetically firm):
â 1-Star Review â Edgarâs Bakery
I genuinely wanted this to be a five-star moment.
Edgarâs Bakery has long been one of my go-to spots when Iâm in search of a little joy in the form of cake. So when I walked in and saw a rare treatâyellow cake with chocolate icing, my absolute favoriteâI lit up. Itâs hardly ever available by the slice when I visit, so I carefully picked between the last two slices and even shared my excitement with the friendly staff behind the counter. âI just hope Iâm not disappointed,â I said out loud.
Unfortunately, disappointment is exactly what followed.
When I got home, I let the cake sit out on the counter to come to room temperatureâlike any cake lover knows, this makes for the best texture. But when I went to enjoy it, I noticed something wrong: the icing was separating from the cake, and it had an oily, glossy film that no fresh cake should have. That kind of separation usually signals ageâand not just a day-old slice. Itâs the type of thing that happens when cake is kept in a cooler too long and passed off as âfresh.â
This is not the first time this has happened to me. In fact, itâs the second time in the past 30 days. And this time? I just threw the slice away. I didnât even have the energy to take a photo. Thatâs how disappointed I was.
For a bakery of this reputation, this should not be a recurring experience. Please do better. Freshness, transparency, and quality matterâespecially when cake is more than just dessert. For some of us, itâs celebration. And for me, it was a...
Read morehad a poor experience. staff had to step up twice to resolve problems. food was meh. no paper menu to order from, have to scan qr code, so couldn't really see menu well. my daughter wanted a quesadilla (cheese and a tortilla), they said it comes with chicken, we said no chicken. I ordered a feta and spinach croissant, and for my daughter a 'frog cookie.'
when I pay, I ask for a printed receipt, she says they'll email it to you' 2 days later, still no email. can't submit a business expense with no receipt.
well the quesadilla shows up with peppers and onions (because all kids love those?) and no chicken.my daughter had to pick it all apart. a couple mins goes by and the staff came to take our number and asked if there was anything else, I said I hadn't gotten my croissant, they brought a cold croissant in a box. then I asked about my daughter's cookie, hadn't received that either. they brought that out and apologized and said they really haven't been trained and had only been there for a week. hope management steps up on hiring and training and retention.
I'd really encourage the availability of paper menus and printed receipts. some people still prefer these things.
bad experience, food...
