This place was Amazing. It was my first time going to this place so naturally I ordered a few items. I ordered the Spicy Tonkatsu Ramen, the Dragon Balls, and some Gyoza. The time to wait was extremely little due to coming after the rush. The waitress(which I regretfully didnt get her name and the receipt just says manager) was a great conversationalist. While waiting she was friendly, had a smile on her face and made time pass by faster. The food though was very tasty. The broth on the ramen was just as I expected, rich with the pork broth and that spiciness in between. It was a flavor explosion. The spice was not too potent to make you sweat and cry but enough to still enjoy it. The noodles were great they had some firmness to it and absorbed some of the spice. The Pork nice and crunchy yet tender in the center. The Dragon Balls were a surprise without a doubt. The outer texture was nice and crispy while the innards were delicate and delicious crab meat. Added to that some jalapenos and viola, deliciousness with every bite. The sauce that the dragon balls came with was a mystery since I didnt read the description but regardless seemed like a spicy aioli with some soy sauce which went well all together. Seats about 20 people or so people. With the cold weather impending definitely come visit this place. I know I'm coming back to try other options on the menu. Made a fan of me. This place gives close competitors a run for...
Read moreCame through this past weekend and it wasn't very busy for lunch. We came just around opening and was seated quickly. Menu is fairly simple, but noticed they had a more robust menu for sushi rolls rather than ramen. If you wanted to combo your ramen, you have the option to add sushi or starters for an extra $3-5 bucks, which is a nice little deal.
Boyfriend ordered ramen + combo. He chose the Tonkotsu with a spicy tuna tempura roll (deep fried spicy tuna, avocado & krab). The sushi roll was small and the quality was meh. Ramen was smaller than expected, but overall pretty good.
I went with the Veggie Ramen and a salmon roll. I thought about opting into the combo too, but I wanted something simple. Honestly, it totaled to the same price, so I suggest the combo specials for value. The salmon felt fatty, but flavorless/fishy at the same time. The veggie ramen was good tho. It came with kale noodles and the toppings were generous with broccoli, cauliflower, wood ear mushrooms, corn, bean sprouts, and tofu.
Personally, I would skip the sushi here since it doesn't satisfy me. However, the ramen here is decent. The bowls look deceivingly small, but the bowl is deep and they don't skimp...
Read moreSome Japanese coworkers of mine took me here, telling me it was "alright". It was soon revealed to me that they were intentionally setting my expectations low, as what I experienced was one of the best ramen I have ever had in the United States.
I tried the black garlic ramen and got the lunch special; for $1 extra, I had some karaage (Japanese style fried chicken), which had a good chili(?) sauce but was not as juicy as I had hoped. The ramen broth was the best I've had, a potent but soft flavour that was different from but as present as other ramen broths I enjoy that have a much bolder taste.
There were a satisfying amount of toppings- about average to on the better side, for the amount they give- with a good chashu, egg, and big nori strip that feels like a sail for your little ramen ship, sunken in broth and thin tender noodle fish.
Definitely would recommend, as the pricing is very fair as well (much cheaper than many terribly mediocre ramen shops). I plan on revisiting this place very soon to try their standard pork...
